Wednesday Podcast: Wikileaks and the National Security Scam
In today’s podcast, I look at the new natal chart of Julian Assange, and catch up on the events of the past week. I give a close look at the Aries Point and how it works, from the viewpoint of both the political and the personal.
Last night, the editor of Mountain Astrologer magazine published data that was leaked to him by a source that has access to birth records. I’ve been querying the editor, Tem Terriktar, to deduce whether that data is valid without compromising his source. In any case I read the chart, giving some thoughts about how it works and what it says.
I share some analysis from journalist Robert Sheer, who explains what Assange is doing as a journalist and how this figures into the health of our society.

Natal chart of John Lennon. Next, I’ve got a special tribute to John Lennon for you. It’s in two parts because I forgot to include my ending in the first file. Lennon’s chart is an excellent study chart for aspiring astrologers. It’s posted to the left. Lennon was an Aries rising with a Libra Sun and an Aquarius Moon.
Aries rising = naive initiator. Lennon, though an ardent cynic, had a naive quality that allowed him to persist as an idealist. He was self-centered in a way that he made work for others; that could translate to self-aware or ‘full of himself’ in a way that is essential to project yourself into public consciousness as he did.
Aquarius Moon = more idealism but also an inherent love for, and respect for, humanity. Aquarius rising loves the sensation of group consciousness and believes that were all in this together. Remember what Alice Bailey said about groups being groups of individuals. Aries rising gives the individuality; Aquarius Moon gives the group.
Libra Sun = artist/rockstar. This is on his 7th house — in his ‘zone of projection’ where he merges with the public and as Marshall McLuhan said so intuitively, puts it on like a mask. The Libra Sun is about to take part in an eclipse with the Moon (public contact) and it’s conjunct Pallas. John Lennon is a political animal. What a surprise!
That Chiron-Pluto in his 5th house is wild artist-sex-drug-rock and roll fiend. I go over all of this in the reading, and end with reciting the lyrics to Revolution.
Have fun!

The massive campaign of intimidation against WikiLeaks is sending a chill through free press advocates everywhere.Legal experts say WikiLeaks has likely broken no laws. Yet top US politicians have called it a terrorist group and commentators have urged assassination of its staff. The organization has come under massive government and corporate attack, but WikiLeaks is only publishing information provided by a whistleblower. And it has partnered with the world’s leading newspapers (NYT, Guardian, Spiegel etc) to carefully vet the information it publishes. The massive extra-judicial intimidation of WikiLeaks is an attack on democracy. We urgently need a public outcry for freedom of the press and expression. Sign the petition to stop the crackdown and forward this email to everyone — let’s get to 1 million voices and take out full page ads in US newspapers this week!

WikiLeaks isn’t acting alone — it’s partnered with the top newspapers in the world (New York Times, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, etc) to carefully review 250,000 US diplomatic cables and remove any information that it is irresponsible to publish. Only 800 cables have been published so far. Past WikiLeaks publications have exposed government-backed torture, the murder of innocent civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, and corporate corruption. The US government is currently pursuing all legal avenues it has to stop WikiLeaks from publishing more cables, but the laws of democracies protect freedom of the press. The US and other governments may not like the laws that protect our freedom of expression, but that’s exactly why it’s so important that we have them, and why only a democratic process can change them.Reasonable people can disagree on whether WikiLeaks and the leading newspapers it’s partnered with are releasing more information than the public should see. Whether the releases undermine diplomatic confidentiality and whether that’s a good thing. Whether WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has the personal character of a hero or a villain. But none of this justifies a vicious campaign of intimidation to silence a legal media outlet by governments and corporations.

This is why – because when they do, governments can be vicious in their response. And when that happens, it’s up to the public to stand up for our democratic rights to a free press and freedom of expression. Never has there been a more vital time for us to do so.With hope,Ricken, Emma, Alex, Alice, Maria Paz and the rest of the Avaaz team.
Found and posted on my facebook the article by Scheer with these comments:
I would say deep down most Americans are not on the side of a free press because they value security over freedom and greed over generosity. It’s a false security in my view because truly our own behavior is setting up our own annihilation–witness the releases from Wikileaks on the Copenhagen climate conference detailing the efforts of the US and other developed countries to strong arm, bribe, threaten undeveloped countries to bear the burden of cutting carbon emissions, loosen possible regulations/requirements that might really make a difference, etc., which is so silly when climate change is going to bite us all in the butt, rich or poor, as Bill McKibbin of 350.org said. The chemical changes in our atmosphere will be hitting critical mass soon, within 100 years by some accounts. The human impact upon nature will not turn itself around by itself, and will have consequences based on equal opportunity for all, which is really unfair seeing as how developed countries, especially the US are the primary cause and continuing propagators of climate change… I don’t believe that God will come down in all His glory to save us from ourselves or that benevolent aliens from outer-space are waiting in the wings to zip in and clean up this mess either. We got this planet on a basic “You break it, you buy it” agreement. We’re breaking it, and we’re gonna buy it whether we like it or not.
Thank you Eric, for the great chart analysis — so informative — and your Lennon podcast tribute; “all right” for sure.
For that “big heart shaped hole” inside of his fans today, feeling the loss of his peacenik spirit so tenderly. Let the aching be and let us set our minds free.
Peace friends.
The Bradley Manning Support Network might be a good place to send donations, as it seems Wikileaks has not fully come through with an “understood” pledge of funds for his defense……

wonder if they take PayPal?
Eric, this is chilling news. Len, you are not alone, and liminali, what can I say? There are no coincidences and we are present in such a breath-taking time frame.

The day Jim Morrison died was also the second anniversary of Brian Jones’ death.
And today is Jim Morrison’s birthday.
Len, I think we all have a big song shaped hole inside us today.
((((PW))))
Eric,
Thank you for you rememberance of John Lennon and for his birth chart.
be,
Thank you for your your excellent observations on Jon Lennon’s chart and the comparison’s to Mr. Assange. You are a wonderful teacher. Please forgive me for not offering an observation of my own in return. There is still a hole where he existed inside me.
Assange was born the day that Jim Morrison died.
John Lennon was arrested in the U.S. for speaking the truth. Odd that Assange’s Chiron/Eris conjunction is in the same degree as Lennon’s Lilith, and his Vesta is in the same degree as Lennon’s Moon, and his Pluto is only 1 degree past Lennon’s Neptune, and the U.S. progressed Moon (Sibly) is there too. The American people resonate to both men at this time and for very similar reasons.
