Isha, guardian of the Grandmother Land

Meet Isha, one of the dogs who lives on the Grandmother Land in Ulster County, NY. She's still a bit of a puppy, in training to be a search and rescue dog with Eagle Valley Search Dogs. She is a German shepherd of German (rather than American) stock, the daughter of Quax and Maya. Photo by Eric Francis.

    This dog eats better than the most obsessive organic nut case in Berkeley, and is getting an excellent private school education.

    She looks well loved and in perfect health. Good job to the people raising her! What big beautiful shiny white sharp teeth you have, grandma! And what big, smart , bright eyes you have grandma!

    I just LOVE the German Shepherds. They’re noble, fearless and hardworking dogs. Although I’ve never had one myself, I’ve heard from people that they’re also very loyal to their people as a friend/family member would be.

    now THAT is a dog that can get some work done!
    excellent dogs, esp for olfactory work, but alas, like many breeds, not for everyone.
    I love it when I see the Working breeds get to DO what they are best at, it is totally
    amazing to see them in their ‘element’.

    ayyyyyy! i miss her. and i especially miss her with the floppy puppy ears and little puppy snout. such a pretty dog.
