Several years ago it ws necessary to take our cat (and so with her kittens so she didn’t worry) to the vet. I put her in a basket (panic leading tomight make her obstruct the pedals?) against my inclination, but on the way she managed to get out and sit on my shoulder. I had the window a little open. Going past 4 boys on bikes I heard one say ” the woman in that car has a cat on her shoulder!” and all the others reply in the vein of ‘are you *@!% crazy or what?’
Kitty has winter traction devices! Very beautiful striping and colors too.
My cat, Grendel, starts the morning by walking on me and batting at my face to wake me up. Of course, it’s her wake-up time, not mine, usually around 3 or 4. Sun? Yes indeedy, anywhere there is a flat warm surface, outside or in. Not always in a convenient spot either, since that is the way of the cat.
This reminds me of a cat that lived in a shared house with me during graduate school. He was sleek and black and quite charismatic as well as full of love for every person that ever stepped foot in the house, except of course for the occasional person deemed unworthy. (He was indeed an excellent judge of character.) When he was sunning himself, I would often lay down next to him, and he would without fail turn toward my face and methodically groom my eyebrows. I was rarely home in those days because I worked long hours in a studio. When I did return to the house, it was often around 3 or 4 in the morning, and Max the cat would always wake up and come to greet me no matter the hour. One night he stretched out on the floor to say hello, and I set myself down next to him but fell asleep almost immediately because I had been working non-stop for almost 3 days. I woke up a few hours later to the sensation of my head being pushed around rather aggressively. Max had taken my very long, wild, curly hair and assiduously groomed it back off my face and then arranged the rest of it in a very tidy bun. I was fully cat slobbered and coiffed! He was a great kitty character.
There’s a neighborhood I drive through on my way into town that has a cat on every patch of sidewalk in front of each house in the morning, lining the street on each side with beautiful beings glistening in the morning sun. They go off in different directions by 10 a.m., but before that, it’s elegant magic.
There is a cat in my apartment compound who sleeps on the hoods of parked cars, moving around throughout the day to find the sunniest location.
My cat, Conan, does this every day, here in good ole sunny Cali.
After a rather strange and tumultous last week, I decided to join him, laid down in the sun coming through my bedroom window.
And it was rather glorious, I took a cat nap for about fifteen minutes until I was woken with a rough kiss on my cheek. It was apparently time for his feeding…
Prr-rrrrr is right….
a bit like Penelope Pussycat in Pepé Le Pew?
Prr-rrrrr!
