  1. My first impression of this photograph… American airlines filling up at the Chevron jet fuel station…..just a thought

    Peace and Love,

    Patricia

  2. welll, its obvious, the kid is looking at the awesome menu, egging on his little bro… the mom is trying to ask who is next in line , the dude with the cornrows is stoned and freakin out on her bodacious accent that is imposing on his BigMac dreams….

  3. I just really want to know what was going on between those kids and the woman whom I assume is their mom and the tall guy with the cornrows. The face of that kid on the left…

  4. Although this photograph pretty much signifies Anywhere USA, I am reminded of what I see at the student union eatery at the state campus where I work. I find it appalling to see the lack of nutritious healthy food available at a public institute of higher learning. Because it is all outsourced to chains, there are virtually no options for special dietary needs. Most chains cant deal with exceptions and substitutions. I can imagine what the primary/secondary school kids encounter.

Im old, but really not that old, and I was over-age when I went to college. But it was a private catholic college, in the late 1980’s to early 1990s. And still they had cafeterias. We all bitched and complained at times, but the food was real, the cooks were real, and there were options, and the best real scrambled eggs for breakfast, and salad bars and it was cheap. At UCDavis a few years back, they had a student-runned joint that had awesome real organic, homemade vegetarian delicious food. It was always packed with lines of folks but they worked the crowd really well. A few years later i went back and it was gone. I asked around and was directed to the same thing that looks like this photograph, except you had to leave your backpack in the foyer that was unpatroled. I ended up going to the “Silo” where I waited for 20 minutes for a personal pan pizza (not even made to order) at the Round Table kiosk.

    Thanks for letting me rant…
Dont even get this Virgo started talking about food…..

    Heavy photo, Eric.
