Astrology chart of Julian Assange

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

FOR THE NEWEST ARTICLE IN THIS SERIES PLEASE CLICK HERE

Note, this article is on the birth chart of Julian Assange, founder of an organization called WikiLeaks. For those new to the topic, here is an article that introduces both Assange and his organization. Note, WikiLeaks websites are once again experiencing disruptions. Also, updating a fast-moving story, the next release of documents by WikiLeaks will be about a major U.S. bank, which Assange said “look a lot like the Enron emails.”

Tonight, Interpol released the birth data of Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks — who is wanted for rape in Sweden. I’ll come back to that — the issue has bubbled to the surface and back down for several months; the charges were dropped and then recently re-upped by the prosecutor in Stockholm. But for the moment, suffice it to say that the man who is exposing the secrets of the World Management Team is being accused of sex crimes. Let’s bookmark that as 8th House.

Natal chart of Julian Assange. Data from INTERPOL.

The chart is to the left. [Here is a full listing of the minor planets.] It’s a noon chart, because we don’t know the birth time. However, it’s a noon chart that is straight to the point. Till now, Assange had succeeded at keeping even his birth date entirely secret, so this is something of an astrological coup, and begins to answer the curiosity of many. If you’re curious about the chart of WikiLeaks, check this article from the Friday subscriber series.

Okay as for the chart. The first thing that catapults out of this chart is Sun square Uranus. This brings in the revolutionary, rebellious and moreover inventive principle at full strength. When you think of Sun square Uranus, think of Nathan Hale: “I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.” Sun square Uranus is the full embodiment of the forward-thinking Uranian principle. The Sun was square Uranus on the day that Uranus was discovered. Uranus disrupts, transforms, up-ends and invents. Notably, this is hanging out at about 10 degrees of the cardinal signs, close enough to the Aries Point to count, currently being aspected by transiting Pluto, and is in line with the Uranus-Pluto square of 2012. So, his chart is right in line with whatever 2012 means — and make no mistake, THIS is one of the things it means. When we think of the kinds of social progress we might associate with 2012, how exactly would that look? When the truth is revealed, and gets some traction, there’s a release of energy — and it’s unpredictable.

In a similar vein, we see an exact conjunction of Chiron and Eris, two relatively new planets. Chiron (the maverick) was discovered in 1977 and Eris (associated with identity crisis and disruptions) was anointed in 2006. These were conjunct through the early 1970s; in past articles I have compared this aspect with the revolutionary nature of the ‘second wave’ feminist movement that was thriving at the time. Chiron and Eris in Aries is a massive evolutionary impulse for self-actualization.

Minor planets - 90 degree sort, natal chart of Julian Assange.

He also has Saturn opposite Neptune. This is an illustration of his shape-shifting power — Sasha Baron Cohen (the actor who created the Borat character, and Ali G) has this one as well. His mind has penetrating power: he’s a mindfucker, and we all have fun as a result. Assange, for his part, is a phenomenon to experience, and he’s having his way with some people who are accustomed to having what they think of as total power.

Saturn contains and solidifies; Neptune dissolves. This is an illustration of tension, but it’s subtle, and it’s a picture of his quality of invisibility. It’s one of his power sources as a hacker and his best camouflage as kind of hero-outlaw. (Assange, if you don’t know the story, started his career as a prodigy teenage hacker. He was arrested, but the prosecutor in the case said, “There is just no evidence that there was anything other than sort of intelligent inquisitiveness and the pleasure of being able to — what’s the expression — surf through these various computers.” The charges were dropped. His hacker name was ‘Mendax’ (derived from a phrase of Horace: splendide mendax, or ‘nobly untruthful’).

In this chart, Sun, Chiron, Uranus and Eris are all in aspect — they are all working together, though the tension is rather incredible. It’s nothing less than you would expect in the chart of someone who would dare to take on such massive issues.

We do have reason to believe he has conflicts with women — and also a depth of harmony with them. The conflict shows up as Venus and Ceres square Pluto; the presence of Ceres comes back to his mother. While it’s certainly emotionally challenging, and deep, and (in the mutable signs) nervous, this aspect can also illustrate a radical values system. He embodies Pluto through on his feminine side.

Speaking of — the charge of rape. I’m not going to say whether I think Julian Assange raped anyone, particularly in a country without any requirement for physical evidence. In other words, so far as I know, there is no rape kit required in Sweden, only testimony. I do think that it’s interesting that the man who is exposing the dark, vile secrets of the world management team is being accused of sex crimes. Here you have the perfect picture of the 8th house — sex, death, secrets, money and power.

There are many other aspects in this chart that speak to who he is — such as Mars square Jupiter, which also showed up in this week’s chart for publishing the 250,000 cables. And of course I’ve only looked a few of the minor planets.

We can say more about how Assange has been offered asylum in Ecuador.

We can cover some of those in the discussion. Please — chime in. Thanks!

Of Mercury and Venus

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

By Len Wallick

Way back on November 8 Venus and Mars changed signs within hours of each other. Now, they duplicate that feat.

It is an accumulation and culmination, an amazing example of synchronicity and symmetry that attracts our attention as surely as yesterday’s relationship between Mars and Jupiter.

Yes, there is a lot going on. The tenor of our times pervades the astrology as the Sun and a host of other objects have crowded their way into and through Sagittarius. It carries over to the political as wars and rumors of war compete for our attention even as a new release of documents by WikiLeaks threatens to undermine duplicity as the cornerstone of modern diplomacy.

These things also have their counterparts in our personal lives. Even as the established order strives to contain the untenable and constrain the unthinkable, many if not all of us are feeling as if we are engaged in a rapid oscillation from pillar to post and back again.

Therein is the key. In order to engage with the world at all, we must first be in touch with ourselves. It is important to prioritize what it takes to attend to our physical health. Our mental health is part and parcel of our physical bodies and will likewise benefit from the decision to be selective and simplify. If social pressure is compelling you to act otherwise, pause to remember that most of the busy social whirl could go on without you, but you can’t. If you feel yourself to be important — and you are — try pulling back a little. Summarize and focus.

Astrology Today: The Oracle for Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Scorpio weekly of June 13, 2002

The Oracle.

You have the Midas touch: all can turn to gold in your hands. But it won’t without the full cooperation of the people closest to you since this is the gold of alchemy not the gold of the Swiss banks. In the end gold is gold but the real value here is about the process by which it’s made. So I suggest that you consider everything you do everything you create and everything you feel as part of a relationship. There is fortunately no need to worry about whether you will ‘succeed’. There is no need to worry about what people think of you. All you need to do is remain in contact.

WikiLeaks Again: A Moment of Transparency

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

But his pants are down, his cover’s blown…
And the politicians throwin’ stones,
So the kids they dance
And shake their bones,
And it’s all too clear we’re on our own.
Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down.

Throwing Stones, by John Perry Barlow and Bob Weir / The Grateful Dead

Note I’ve added a small listing of minor planets lower down in the article.

WikiLeaks, a web-based organization that publishes classified and secret documents, has posted a set of new government documents as of yesterday evening. This is another rare moment of transparency in a world that is moving toward ever-greater secrecy and control. Much of that is based around technology; it was not long ago that only entities such as the government or The New York Times newsroom could so much as send a fax. Today, we can access FindLaw from a Droid while riding the subway. We can be photographed naked going through airport security. So the control game is mostly about technology (but the search still comes down to the frisk, the only useful cop is one who understands some psychology, and frankly if you’re looking for explosives dogs get the job done best).

Chart for WikiLeaks posting of worldwide embassy documents. The time is from the New York Times blog - earliest known time; and the location is for the primary host of the WikiLeaks datbase. That is a really impressive 4th house -- the one with all those planets packed in. The 4th is the house of

So here in the pre-climactic throes of our technological adolescence, it’s fitting that we have the Virgo Moon ascending over the chart for the earliest reported time that the documents were available. I’ve used the location of Stockholm because that’s where PRG, Wikipedia’s primary host is located, and Sweden is the country that has jurisdiction over the project.

Many other websites have been commenting on the content of the leak, though it would take months or years to properly assess a quarter million pages of material (that much is unreleased, so far, and will be posted gradually). I understand that this is a genre of work that is aimed at the diplomatic community. These are the meat and potatoes of day-to-day communication among embassies and diplomats, and you can be sure that there are some real gems in there. One of my favorites is how the past two secretaries of state, Madame Secretary Rice and Madame Secretary Clinton, ordered their diplomats to spy on other diplomats — including obtaining hair samples for the DNA database if possible.

Remember that embassies are notoriously secretive, and the contents of diplomatic relations are protected six ways from Sunday. I recall hearing the story of an embassy employee who risked attack by a lion rather than give up her diplomatic pouch. And embassies are one of the best places for leaks. During the early part of WWII, the U.S. embassy in London, under the stewardship of Joe Kennedy Sr. (JFK’s dad) was a direct leak to the Third Reich; yes, it’s history that JFK’s dad was a down home red-blooded all American Nazi collaborator. So Roosevelt had to route all sensitive communications to Churchill and others around the embassy, and meanwhile you can be sure they piped all kinds of bullshit past Joe’s desk so it would get into enemy hands.

The tip of the WikiLeaks iceberg

As I’m sure most PW readers know, the latest release of classified documents form WikiLeaks hit the media November 28. This time, it’s diplomatic cables rather than military documents, with 243 cables out of 251,287 out so far. The rest will be made available over the weeks and months to come. Eric and I are trying to nail down the exact time of yesterday’s leak. As best as I can determine, the leak was planned for 4:30 ET but the WikiLeaks website was shut down for a bit; the NY Times blog The Lede states Wikileaks was accessible by 5:17 ET. If any readers have more precise information for the time of the leak, please let us know!

Given what Eric has written recently about international geopolitics being the dominant theme of the cluster of planets and points in Sagittarius, it should be an interesting chart to suss out. No doubt the Chiron-Neptune conjunction has a hand in this shedding of light and I’ll be curious to see what aspects Mercury is making, given that the story is all about communication and technology.

In the meantime, here are a couple of tidbits from the coverage at Democracy Now! today:

“Among the findings: Arab leaders are urging the United States to attack Iran; Washington and Yemen agreed to cover up the use of U.S. warplanes to bomb Yemen; the United States is using its embassies around the world as part of a global spy network and asking diplomats to gather intelligence; and much more. We host a roundtable discussion with Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg; Greg Mitchell, who writes the Media Fix blog at The Nation; Carne Ross, a British diplomat for 15 years who resigned before the Iraq war; and As’ad AbuKhalil, a professor of political science at California State University, Stanislaus.”

AS’AD ABUKHALIL: What is very striking about all these documents on the Middle East is that the Arab people are not going to be surprised that much. They all along have known that they are ruled by a bunch of liars and deceivers who go to extra lengths to appease and please the United States. What is going to be particularly revealing are the details that show the lengths to which these rulers go in order to please the United States. And we find that they are not capable of making independent decisions. Whatever the instincts of the United States are, those rulers go along with them and, in fact, they seem to compete with one another. For example, in showing how much they are hostile towards Iran.

Of Mars and Jupiter

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

By Len Wallick

This week, our focus continues to be on the sign of Sagittarius and its ruling planet, Jupiter, which is currently direct in Pisces — the other sign it traditionally rules. As of the date of this blog, Mercury, Mars and the Sun are making their way down the aisle through the crowded house of Sadge. In the process they are successively encountering a host of minor planets and two cosmic landmarks that, over a long period of time have collected within this scarce arc of 30 degrees, each and all of them under the dominion of Jupiter.

There is the center of our galaxy, a point so far away that it takes the better part of a century to move a single degree on the zodiac. Vastly more remote and seemingly fixed is the unavoidable and unfathomable Great Attractor, pulling a great train of millions of galaxies toward it even as it retreats in kind. There are three centaurs, evoking shadow and opportunity. Finally, some exotic objects orbiting out past Neptune or not even there at all, with the collection completed by a dozen asteroids from the main belt between Jupiter and Mars. All these from our terrestrial perspective, assembled in a narrow section of sky.

The influence is multiplied by the fact that every one of those points is continually and collectively forming geometric relationships to the other eleven signs and the planets ensconced therein. It is almost as if the cosmos is saying, look here, pay attention. Today Mars duplicates Mercury’s aspect of last Thursday by squaring Jupiter. There is something about this that demands our attention. Before we examine that ruby, however, it would be a good idea to inspect the setting — the immediate past few days and the next few, culminating in the fascinating concurrency of astrological events that will begin next week.

On Saturday, Mercury followed up its Thanksgiving square by going on an aspect shopping spree of sorts. In the course of less than eight hours, Old Fleet-Foot sextiled Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius before turning its sights back to Pisces to do unto Uranus as it had unto Jupiter. This was followed by a conjunction with the Galactic Center yesterday. Shortly thereafter, as if in a sort of closing, the Virgo Moon perfected its last quarter phase by squaring the Sun. Tomorrow (or early Wednesday, depending on where you are) Mercury and Venus will duplicate an amazing feat of synchronization by changing signs on the same day for the second time this month. More about that in the Tuesday blog.

Astrology Today: The Oracle for Monday, Nov. 29, 2010

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Virgo monthly of March 1, 2004

The Oracle.

The less time you spend trying to justify your insights to yourself, the more time you’ll have to act on them, and the sooner you’ll collect their rewards. Intense inner dialogue often reveals activity on the emotional level that can include resentment, unexpressed anger, or a sense of being misunderstood. You have certain things to say to people in your life. Those people have names and phone numbers. You also seem to have desires for pleasure and adventure that exceed what we’re told are the normal boundaries in our society. What you are viewing as a moral issue is really about an issue of control. Morality is just a convincing costume for the game wherein you become convinced that the less alive you feel, the safer certain other people think they are. But it’s getting quite old.
