Today’s Oracle takes us to the Sagittarius weekly of Oct. 10, 2008
Everyone has a unique sexual orientation, and most of the time it’s rather different than the neat and tidy one we present to the world. If I were to redesign the Kinsey Scale, it would go in about seven directions, including values that account for many shades of emotional, relational and sexual preferences. And part of the model would allow the concept of one’s orientation to evolve with time. You seem to be exploring who you are in the deeper recesses of your imagination at the moment. At the root of your quest is the need to be emotionally free rather than just sexually free (it’s dangerously easy to experience a kind of sexual freedom specifically at the expense of emotional imprisonment). One potential result of being emotionally free is that it will open the way to make different choices — and being who you are, you just might find yourself wanting to do that. Remember this as you negotiate with yourself.

With mere days left before the midterms, corporate funding for political ads has done more than smear and distort: it’s bedazzled. In Nevada, where Majority Leader Harry Reid is fighting for his political life against Bagger Sharron Angle, televised electorate pounding broke records. In Las Vegas, 1,200 ads played out across local television screens in a single day: some 10 hours of political advertisement. It’s been estimated that by the time this election is done, $3 billion will have been spent to secure our individual votes.
Those of you who thought your vote didn’t mean anything might want to reconsider. Every once in awhile, I read about how my vote has been so mugged by gerrymander and districting that it’s not worth owning, but this week it’s worth 3 billion dollars. Maybe democracy is in better shape than we think. Or not.
Consider the race in Nevada. You may remember Reid’s opponent as the ‘chicken lady’ who, hyperventilating over the inevitability of ‘Obamacare,’ suggested that people might barter with their doctor for services as was done in the Good Old Days. This was the quintessential moment when the public turned to examine Tea Bagger candidates more closely, sniffing to see if they all had a case of The Crazy™ — a condition that had seemed contained in places like West Virginia and Alaska prior to this election, mostly confined to FOX News true believers – and wondering just how absurd the dialog might get.
A lot worse, it turns out. Sharron Angle has spoken of her hopes to ax the EPA, the Department of Education and the VA, declaring them unnecessary expenditures of big government. If she loses this race, it won’t be because she wasn’t mega-financed or, nose held, embraced by Republican leadership. It will be because her suggestion that Second Amendment rights might be necessary to “take Harry Reid out” is beyond the pale. If she ultimately loses, it will be because the radicalism of her proposals is intolerable to most Americans. And if she loses by more than just a point or two, thank your favorite god and lucky stars, because it will mean that the American electorate is not as childish and one-dimensional as this season has suggested.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Libra weekly of Aug. 30, 2007
By now, you are likely to have some sense of the general direction of things, which is inward. While you may feel that many factors of your life are conspiring to isolate you despite your most sincere intentions to participate and express yourself, the purpose of this new phase of your journey is to confront the fears that have prevented you from doing just that. There are few in this life who, to some extent, do not make some sort of compromise with their sense of personal limitation. The first question you must ask is how conscious that compromise is for you. The second question is what promises, commitments or agreements keep your hands and feet tied together. To whom do you think you owe what? This question will take a while to answer, if you insist on looking the other way.

In honor of the Venus-Vesta conjunction in Scorpio, I’ve put together an archive of my favorite writing about sexuality. I’ve posted this to the front page of the Compersion.org website. This is not a complete collection of my writing, but it’s truly representative of my best work, with articles going back more than 10 years. I include the full series, “It’s Not About Sex. It’s About Self,” as well as the complete archive from Sexuality.org. If you’re looking for anything special, just write to me and I will try to help you find it. Note that this is only my nonfiction writing. There is plenty of fiction swimming in the pages of Book of Blue, and elsewhere.
Vestally yours,

New edition of Planet Waves by Eric Francis goes into detail on the Venus-Vesta conjunction that takes place Saturday night. There is also detailed information about tonight's Aries Full Moon.
The new edition of Planet Waves is on its way to subscribers. This week, I offer my magnum opus on Vesta, in honor of tomorrow’s Venus-Vesta conjunction in Scorpio. I look at Vesta as an interior space that we can access for pleasure and healing. I’m one of the few astrologers who delineates Vesta as an archetype of deep sexuality — the kind we think we’re going to read about in New Agey books about tantric sex. Those books are fun, but they rarely get to the level of that inner flame of devotion that Vesta generously grants when we offer her the least bit of our attention.
In this issue there is also an excellent little article about tonight’s Full Moon in Aries, as well as some amazing Mars aspects to the Chiron/Neptune conjunction and the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction. This is an interesting arrangement — Mars makes four aspects at once, creating a pretty wild set of energy alignments.
Each edition includes my weekly horoscope interpretations for all 12 signs. And this week includes a free bonus audio, one hour in length. This is called Community and Compersion, which is the recording of a one-hour keynote presentation I gave at a recent conference.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Pisces Monthly of Aug. 5, 2007
As the veils of illusion continue lifting away from your vision, remember you have the creative power not only to deal with any situation that life hands you, but to turn it into something that you can thrive from. You are ending an extended phase characterized by intense pressure, a few health concerns and way too much work. Deep in your heart and soul, however, has been a growing sense of passion and inner light that has guided you to make some bold decisions and keep the door open for a few others. Be vigilant against that thing the world calls a “closed mind.” Every tiny gesture of keeping your mind open currently counts for quadruple points.

At the end of last month, I wrote an article on the Aces in the Rider-Waite Smith tarot deck: this was all about the quality of each suit in potential — its ideal, its promise to us.

Two of Wands and Two of Cups -- Rider-Waite Smith Tarot.
This week, we enter the world of the Twos, where potential is brought into the physical world that we inhabit. The Twos are about duality. It is where we get to work with the mode that each suit expresses: creativity (Wands), emotions (Cups), thought (Swords) and resources (Pentacles).
I also believe that it is each suit expressed in its simplest physical form — our life experiences have not as yet added the layers of complexity that become apparent as we move through the numbers towards the court cards.
The Twos in the minor arcana are also connected to their trump equivalent: The High Priestess. As card number 2 in the major arcana, The High Priestess sits at the gateway between spirit and matter. As the intermediary, she receives messages from the non-incarnate, and brings them into the world. The High Priestess is a midwife. What she assists in birthing takes its first steps in the Twos.
Let’s look at how the idea of first steps manifests in each of the four cards…
The Two of Wands
A man stands on the parapet of a castle. He is well dressed, so I am assuming that the castle is his. In his left hand, he holds one of two wands, its base resting on a crenellation; in his right, he holds a globe. Behind him, the other wand is fastened to the wall with a metal bracket — held in place while his attention is focused elsewhere. Below him lies what seems to be a small village. Does it belong to him?

Things are falling into place for the Aries Full Moon taking place tomorrow night or early Saturday morning, depending where you are. This opposition of the luminaries has been our theme this week for two reasons. First it is the second of two consecutive Full Moons to occur in the same sign. One could consider it a variety of blue Moon — popularly taken as the second Full Moon in a calendar month. This astrological type of blue Moon takes place every two or three years and thus qualifies as auspicious, but not necessarily rare.
The second unique consideration is that Venus is in the same degree of Scorpio as it was for the immediately previous Aries Full Moon of September 23. This synchronization of placement and timing goes beyond rare, defies precedent or subsequent duplication. Sort of like you. It takes place in a year of one extraordinary event after another.
There was the simultaneous and prolonged occupation of three cardinal points by trans-personal and epochal planets — the conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus in Aries, the last of which was in July of 1927. It will not happen again for over a thousand years. And we had the first conjunction of those same two planets in Pisces; the last time this happened was over seven centuries ago. That’s just to name a few.
Now, with the major planets outside the asteroid belt in a period of transition, things are getting personal. Today is the first full day of Mercury in Scorpio, currently occupied by Venus and Mars. Those three are the personal planets. So called because they orbit the Sun many times in a typical human life, marking out the months and years. By the day after tomorrow, Sol will have joined them in Scorpio, illuminating the days in a rhythm that is at the root of astrology.
Mars rules Scorpio and is on its way out the back door of that sign. It also rules Aries, scene of tomorrow’s astrological blue Moon. Venus is retreating towards the front door on its way back to Libra where it, in turn, rules and where Sol will experience the second consecutive opposition to Luna. You thought the old cardinal T-square represented everything at once.
