A tad on the Great Attractor

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

Len mentioned the Great Attractor (14 Sagg and 5 minutes), a fixed point at the center of Sagittarius. Mercury is conjunct this point today.

This fairly closely aligned with but not to be confused with the Galactic Core (26 Sagg and 59 minutes). At 26,000 light years away, the Galactic Core is our next door neighbor. The Great Attractor is a point located far, far away beyond our galaxy, so massive that it is like a vortex drawing toward it a million or so galaxies at the rate of about 24 million miles a day. Yes children, we travel 24 million miles every day for our whole lives, flying through space in the direction of Sagittarius — while the thing we are chasing retreats.

Have you wondered why these people born in late November through mid-December are so OUT THERE? Now you have a metaphor. Here is another: the GA is the biggest, heaviest and most massive thing that is known to science. It broadcasts on every radio spectrum but visible light. In other words, it is invisible. This is complicated by the fact that the dusty plane of our own galaxy interferes with the perception and ‘view’ of the object.

Back in 2001 I wrote a short article on the Great Attractor, and I still think it’s pretty good. To sum up, as an astrological influence, the Great Attractor creates a sense of polarization. It is a psychic property, not a necessary reality; but the feeling is “you love him or you hate him,” just like the people we love to love and love to hate. For bonus points, what to our beloved conservative talk show hosts — Limbagh, Hannity, Beck, O’Reilly — have conjunct, opposite or square the GA? Do any of them have 13-16 mutable on an angle?

Maybe a little confusion is in order

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

By Len Wallick

Before Charles Darwin, the word and concept evolution existed with an entirely different context and set of meanings than the one we now assume it to have. It was used in mathematics to describe the extraction of roots, to give one example (and in geometry, it still has a place having to do with the properties of curvature). Its complement, involution, is rarely used in common speech.

Briefly, envolute expresses that which tends to come forth and involute that which tends inward. Today’s astrology has elements of both. Hence today’s theme: coming, going or something else.

During the course of this day, the Sun, now into the second into the second degree of Sagittarius, will conjoin two asteroids, first Bacchus, then Apophis. With the well-known Greek representation of wine and abandon beginning his day only to end with a meeting his dark Egyptian antithesis, nobody would blame the Sun if he did not know whether he was coming or going.

Ms. Moon, having spent a cold day and night sweeping the re-condensing Aquarius stellium, clocks into the office while feeling through the shift into the deep waters of Pisces.

Today, Mercury in Sagittarius conjoins the an inter galactic point called the Great Attractor, which is the largest, heaviest object known to science. Mercury simultaneously opposes the asteroid Aphrodite (the Greek alter-ego of Venus), looking forward to an applying sextile to Hermes (his own Greek alter ego), an applying conjunction to Icarus (don’t get too high) and, most applying (or is that appalling?) of all, the trine to Mars. Let’s all give Merc a mulligan along with a double Espresso and excuse all the Geminis and Virgos out there is they are having a bad hair day, what say? That, or the Great Attractor will make them greatly attractive even straight out of the gym.

Astrology Today: The Oracle for Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

Today’s Oracle takes us to the SCORPIO – Weekly of Dec 31, 1999

The Oracle.

There are certain processes in life that you consistently experience below the level of awareness. You might call them subconscious. If you go back and assess all the times you’ve been in trouble the past 10 years (give or take five years), you may notice that just about all of those episodes occurred when some kind of subconscious process ran away with your life, but before you figured it out, it was too late. From this day forward, it will be much more difficult for that to happen again. In fact, if you maintain vigilance, it will be quite nearly impossible. And you know: this is a very happy development.

Why I Love Hannity and Beck

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

Editor’s Note: One of our readers wrote in recently and said that she loves a variety of conservative talk show hosts. I asked her what she finds nourishing about them, and this was her reply. The ideas in this article are opinion only; meaning, they have not been fact-checked and are not intended to be taken as verified. Still, for reasons that may be obvious, I consider this a significant piece of writing. We can talk about why in the comments area, and a little later in the conversation I will add my thoughts. Thank you Kathi for sharing your writing with us. –efc

THE ANSWER TO your question is a long one. You may not want to talk to me once I answer it, although I hope that won’t be the case, because I certainly don’t claim to know everything. I’m not a “know-it-all”-type person and don’t feel that I am right and everyone else is wrong. I have an open mind and have a great interest in learning. That is why I take such an interest in reading what you have to say. I stay open to many different opinions and — unless they affect me directly (like those of our President do) or they pull at my heart strings somehow, I try not to respond with judgment (but I also don’t claim to be perfect either).

Sean Hannity, in action.

Sean Hannity, in action.

Let me start off by saying that some years ago, I was a registered Republican. I voted for George W. Bush at his first election and then was on his campaign committee here at the local Republican building in Johnstown, at the second (which was no big deal — it just required making phone calls and soliciting votes — except when you ran across anti Bush people; THEN it became a big deal, more like a pain in the neck! But staying patient always worked and seemed to calm them down. Politics and the war always struck a nerve with people!)

Then, Bush came to the Johnstown War Memorial. I let my daughter take a day off from school and she and I went to see him. Since I was on the election committee, I got tickets right away and was fortunate enough to get right up front and had the chance to shake his hand and speak with him for just a few moments. I have pictures of the whole event. I consider that day to be one of the most memorable events of my life. Hopefully my daughter (who is now 19) does also.

Second shout out to Pisces — and Saturn Return

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

Dear Friend and Reader:

This week we are beginning a conversation about key life transits. As I’ve mentioned, there will be a section of Cosmic Confidential devoted to transits that happen to everyone by age. I plan to cover five of them, with the fifth devoted to the Chiron return and other major Chiron transits.

The Saturn return is one of the most vivid, memorable transits in astrology and is often the most important growing up point. Before I get into this subject, I would like to remind Pisces that you can comment on your astrology and personal journey in an entry below. The comments from all the signs have been very helpful.

As for the Saturn return. This is a transit that starts to emerge around age 27, is in full gear by 29 and is trailing off by age 32.

There is also the second Saturn return — which is in action between age 56 and 59. If you are commenting on your second Saturn return, please describe the events at the time of your first one, as these are related.

The keyword of this transit is restructuring. Many changes come at this time in life, and I would like to hear your stories. Please say whether you were aware that this was your Saturn return, or found out after the fact.

Many thanks, and let’s see how this conversation develops.

Sagittarius Sun, Aquarius stellium — and a process

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

The Sun is now in Sagittarius, joining Mercury and Pholus. Sun  + Sagittarius in the Northern Hemisphere is the extreme waning phase of the Sun: the days are approaching their shortest length of the year. Sagittarius is the last sign of autumn in this hemisphere. It is a mutable sign; the mutables are always the last signs of the season (for example, Virgo is the last sign of summer).

As the Sun makes its way across this sign for the next four weeks, it will align first with the Great Attractor at 14+ degrees and then with the Galactic Core at 27+ degrees. This to me is the origin of the feeling that time is moving especially fast this time of year: it comes under the influence of some incredible gravitational forces, and we feel it as acceleration.

This is enhanced psychologically by the approach of the holidays and the shortest days of the year; the feeling that “time is running out.”

The Sun reaches solstice declination on Dec. 20 and holds that position on the horizon for five days before beginning its northward journey. December is a wonderfully complex month astrologically,  — but we’re not there yet; details soon (for subscribers, with Tuesday’s December monthly horoscope edition).

There will be an exact conjunction of Mercury and Pholus today, which looks like energy opening up a conversation, or many conversations, that will not end until it they are resolved. Pholus releases; it inspires one to follow curiosity; it talks about a small cause and a big effect. If we apply this to Mercury, we get the feeling of an idea with plenty of extra influence — one we did not realize could move energy the way that it does: through thought or concept. In Sagittarius, it has the ability to reach the world, or to reach to us from a global condition; in any event it speaks of a planetary thought process.

Astrology Today: The Oracle for Monday, Nov. 23, 2009

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Capricorn – Weekly of May 16, 2002

The Oracle.

Abundance is the word of freedom of intelligence of ideas to make your life a better place to live. If this is not the case and you are frustrated with your situation I ask: are there opportunities you have but are not taking? Do you have information you are not using? And are you denying anything you know deeply to be true but are not “ready to handle”? You must know that what you care about is important in that it really does have the power to move your life and to get you to move your life and this works whether you are conscious of it or not. So in case you get any wake up-calls

Today in History, 1963: Shots in Dealy Plaza

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

The question of what exactly happened on Nov. 22, 1963 persists, and it will until the government releases the secrets that it’s been keeping all these years. We do have the astrological chart, however: one cannot hide the date and time of such a public event. If you’re an astrology student, memorize the data: 12:30 pm in Dallas. I have provided the chart below; in some ways it’s difficult to see what is going on. But as with the event itself, common sense has a way of prevailing. Or perhaps lies have a way of reeking in the approximate scent of their own existence.

President and Mrs. Kennedy, and Governor and Mrs. Connoly, ride in an open limousine minutes before the assassination. Photo by Victor Hugo King.

I come back to this chart from time to time, from year to year, to see if I notice anything new, and here is what I can tell you today.

As background, the Sun in this chart is void of course in Scorpio; it is placed very late in that sign, at the end of the last degree. In other words, in about six hours the Sun will be in Sagittarius.

The time of day is just past noon, so the Sun is in the 9th house (the time of year determines the sign placement; the time of day determines the house). The void opens the way for a lot of mischief, if one is inclined to take advantage of it. The 9th house is the secret or hidden zone of the government, which is contained in the next house over — the 10th. Vesta is the most elevated planet in the chart, in the 10th, what you might call the presidential zone. Vesta suggests sacrifice.

Mercury is conjunct Vesta. Because Virgo is on the 8th house cusp (the house associated with the nature and cause of death), Mercury is the delegate of this house; and Mercury is conjunct Vesta in the 10th. This suggests two things: one is a human sacrifice of President Kennedy; and second that the government itself was involved. This is fairly simple: Mercury represents the nature and cause of death; Mercury is placed in the house of the president/government — the 10th. The cause and the effect are directly connected. One gets the sense that someone known to President Kennedy was involved in the plot to kill him; but writing this, that seems obvious.

Astrology Today: The Oracle for Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Capricorn – Weekly of Jan 10, 2003

The Oracle.

There are two kinds of freedom: freedom to, and freedom from. I imagine that both are summoning you right now, in a burning way. It would be wise to question the reality of situations from which you think you can’t get away, as well as to investigate the truth of those situations where you’ve felt you could not get yourself into. The astrology suggests that these are old circumstances which just became part of the natural landscape of your life. You are in the midst of very significant personal changes where these questions are concerned. There are two requirements, one being that you not be afraid to fall, and the other, that you not be afraid to fly.
