By the way — Saturn square Pluto is right now. This is an interesting chart, and I have not said much about it. At the moment of the exact square, event one (the second is Jan 31, 2010 and the third is Aug. 21, 2010), the Moon is conjunct Venus in Scorpio. The aspect is exact at 10:19 am EST — less than an hour from the time I am writing this.
That is a deeply passionate conjunction, as it brings together the two most common facets of our perception of feminine energy, mother and lover; or of you prefer, it resolves the nonexistent paradox that we so often perceive here. The Moon moves quickly; this is a hint of what can happen if we shift perspectives, or experiment with the idea that what we think of as opposites are not really opposites but contain one another.
The Sun is at 23+ Scorpio, exactly square Neptune and closely square Chiron. This to me is a reminder about being honest. Most of what we lie about is sex; it’s a compulsion, designed to either deny desire in order to protect our reputation; to deny experience to avoid scandal; or to keep ourselves safely stuck. These are the walls that most typically close in on us, when we’re sitting around wondering where our life has gone. Sun-Chiron can feel like being “less than a man” or the expectation that men will be so (perhaps like father was). Few aspects say daddy issues like Sun-Chiron, but with Neptune in the mix, we might make up a story or put on a glamor to help gloss it over. That gloss is now what is coming into focus, or rather, into question.
One of my favorite esoteric writers (the secret author of a book credited to someone else, with whom I happen to correspond) wrote to me recently about the relationship between Saturn in Libra and facades. That is, our obsession with image, which in part she attributes to a Libra quality. I am developing this concept and my sense is that this square between Saturn and Pluto is indeed about the surface layer cracking and falling off.
If that happened, it would change our society and our social interactions quite a lot. Many people would feel entirely lost.
Other notes: Ceres square Nessus — we don’t need to be dragging around the sexual injuries of our mothers, which are abundant; and at the least it helps to be aware that is what we’re doing, when we’re doing it. This is one not to underestimate. You don’t necessarily know what happened to mom and you have not necessarily accounted for the influence of her experiences and viewpoints on who you are, and why you struggle. (With any luck I will have a friend’s essay to post on this subject later today.)
Last, Mercury is in the last degree of Scorpio. Keep your sense of humor. I often think of some lines written by one of my musical/literary heroes Laurie Anderson (I am doing this from memory so a word or two might be off): If I was the president, if I were king for a day, I’d give the ugly people all the money. I’d rewrite the book of love, and make it funny.
very interesting…. i am a solar capricorn, dating (i guess you could say, lol) a solar libra… we “squared off” so to speak, first face to face meeting in over a week, almost exact to the time of the celestial square. surprisingly, it was not quite as explosive as i had anticipated although it certainly was intense. i am hosting saturn in the 1st and pluto in the 4th right now (i had a fairly major, non relationship-related, home drama on friday in the run-up to the square), and the libra is hosting saturn in the 4th and pluto in the 7th, so intense is the name of the game, lol. but we haven’t blasted each other sky high so i assume that means we’re on the growth side of these squares. (truth be told, there are a huge number of squares between our charts)
Oh my! this is the fun and exciting part about astrology to me, while I am learning the ropes of interpretation-I’m still looking at just houses, signs, and planets and moving toward understanding them when all of a sudden we have these amazing aspects to consider. -Is event 2 the same aspects between the same planets occuring again, only on Jan. 31?
Also, again back to basic understanding of charts…I’m seeing Saturn in Libra in the 9th house, so my instinct says that Saturn representing paternal authority in the sign of Libra is teaching us something about balancing the notion of paternal authority which is s*uared to Pluto-which to me, has always sort of represented archetypically/spiritually another kind of paternal authoritarian, or male deity- if you will, sort of a ‘supreme’ authority or final word…so, if we see Pluto in the 12th house of ‘undoings’, hidden dreams, unexpected circumstances, etc… well, I wonder if this period isn’t about revealing the flawed view we may have of ‘authority’, both male and female…perhaps what must be ‘undone’ is our way of thinking about ‘authority,’ and the s*uare is to communicate the challenge we may face as we explore, identify, and redefine these roles…both for the authoritarian(s), and those subject to their lessons…what does authority mean to us, really?

As I write this, we have a dad and his daughter in our mortuary who were both stabbed to death on 9 November in front of her 8 year old and 2 month old children in her family home. It is believed that a schizophrenic son/brother is responsible – but he is missing and a manhunt is being conducted. The families are staying in safe houses until he is found.
This is an example of a situation that was under-estimated, for sure. And yet – what could have been done to prevent it? You can’t lock people up who display mental imbalance without cause and yet if you wait for the cause, it’s too late to stop the chain reaction. And at this stage, even if he is innocent, he’ll have a hard time proving it wasn’t him.
What a sad situation. Please send love and light to ALL those who have difficulties in their lives. May they find healing. May they find peace.

i see external and surface evidence of all the things you wrote in my life right now. i love that!
but, i am so surprised to see you mention the mask as i was doing an intuitive reading earlier this week and spirit told me to close my eyes and tell what i saw…and it was that the human face is a mask, what we eat, what we think and feel, what is around us, morphs it. it was a very intense image. it was as if spirit said the architects of our race put it there, in part to enslave us since our body is sort of built that way…but more so, “to protect” the light from literally blowing people’s minds. RAD! our inner essence might scramble brains. hahaha, i could really see that. but i saw something also in the vision…an umbilical cord, that was not to mother earth, but like a worm hole to heaven. and isn’t it strange or not, in the comments speaking of births now too. so it’s all there!
well, i thought it was interesting to ponder: the face as the mask on the very surface and at the very innermost part a cord that nourishes and feeds and can directly expand a life by funneling to us a kind of essence that is eternal and uniquely each one of us.
off to snuggle my lil boy and dream of picnics in the eyes of spinning storms. a good image for these kinds of days.

My friend’s stepdaughter went into labor yesterday, and my friend and I were supposed to get together this afternoon to hang out, however, I haven’t heard from her, which means one thing: the baby is coming or has been born.
Please keep your “lights” on for this little girl (sonogram says its a girl). She’s coming in for a landing under some pretty powerful planetary alignments. (Her mom’s an Aquarius, and her dad’s a Cancer). What a ride.
I had reaction but have no words, this is a profound moment with both extreme emotion and overwhelming intuitive “stuff” going on….needing reflection time to understand.
