Sun enters Aries, Vernal Equinox

Published by Priya Kale under Daily Astrology

Overnight the Sun entered Aries, marking the first day of the astrological year and the vernal equinox. In the northern hemisphere this marks the beginning of spring; suggesting metaphorically and literally a time for new life and change.

The first degree of this sign aka the Aries Point is associated with personal events taking on a larger political meaning. Pluto the planet that forces us to evolve from the ashes has been aspecting this point since its entry into Capricorn (the sign associated with worldly success through hard work, governments, established structures, society and social norms) early this year. As the Sun (representing our primary life source) enters Mars ruled Aries it squares Pluto in Capricorn is bringing us one clear message of an individuals ability to instigate change in a way that affects society on a larger scale.

We are standing on an evolutionary threshold like few others. In relationships and situations where it seems we’ve reached a breaking point, we are actually being challenged to grow as we seek liberation from all that seems oppressive.

Do not underestimate the power of the planets at the moment. Their potent alignments are pushing us to take action where normally we would be tempted to lay low. There is a need now to find an inner balance between the need to conform to social or established norms and the drive to assert individuality and passion.

Added to this the Libra Full Moon tomorrow is likely highlighting a power struggle in an important personal or professional relationship and we can expect more revelations as we lead up to this potent lunation. At best it is bringing to light the spirit and power of teamwork to bring greater change.

But as I mentioned yesterday, change can ultimately only come from within — only in changing our response, can we change the outcome.

“Religion often teaches that the love of God is more important than the love of humanity. At this time in your life I suggest you consider that as a question and not as an answer. I have no doubt that you’re feeling the ‘higher calling’ in life the drive and desire to be the most complete person you can be and that this may have some spiritual overtones. It’s also clear that love is the method for getting there. Yet you might ask: what is it in this life that will leave me feeling the most free? That is morality on a level that makes sense to you.”

Leading up the Equinox

Published by Priya Kale under Daily Astrology

Dear Friends and Readers,

I’m back from my few days of much needed fun in the sun — I cannot put into words just how much being by the sea relaxes me and I couldn’t have asked for better company. I am well recharged now but as the planets suggest a lot hangs in the balance.

As we head into the Spring Equinox and Libra Full Moon, there is a powerful “cardinal cross” forming between the Sun, Moon, Mars and Pluto occupying the first degrees of the Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn respectively — these signs exert energy that propels and instigates action.

With the planets forming 90 degree angles to each other, they align in the shape of a cross. The square aspects are heightening the tension charged with the power of the cardinal signs and Full Moon goading us into action. Individually and collectively (the place where the two intersect — as suggested by the Aries Point) there is a feeling of being on the threshold of a new phase waiting to rush in like the tide.

Indeed we are on a threshold, square aspects tend to bring us an increased awareness of scenarios that just don’t seem right; Often pointing to an internal process that we need to deal with. Indeed we can’t change anyone or anything but ourselves — it has to come from within. There is an opportunity to transform any feelings of helplessness by taking charge without outwardly projecting. If the desire to break free is overwhelming it would be wise to not merely focus on freedom ‘from’ a situation but rather clarify what we would like to have the freedom to do. Once we find our direction and purpose channeling the energy can be a much easier task.

My time in Goa was definitely one of the most amazingly relaxing experiences, not to mention I can’t remember the last time I laughed that hard. I’ve been traveling to Goa on vacation practically every year since I was five years; 25 years later much has changed in Goa and in my life.

As I sat staring at the waves crash tirelessly to the shore, watching the sun set and the quarter Moon overhead I was reminded that although change is constant, these are just cycles we go through — good, bad, ugly, joyous… and this too shall pass.

The Moon is now in Virgo inching closer to the Libra Full Moon exact on Mar. 21, 2008 at 1:39 PM EST. The Sun is now in the last degree Pisces increasing our emotional and intuitive depth as it approaches its ingress into Aries. Soak in this feeling of knowing –spring is here and as the Beatles sang “Here comes the Sun…”

Self-inflicted chaos, or is it creativity?

THIS IS working out to be a wild week — starring Pluto and the Aries Point. Today is the eve of the Equinox (more precisely, the Aries ingress of the Sun; the last day of the astrological year). This is the first real instance of Pluto in Capricorn coming into the spotlight, with Friday’s Full Moon. The Planet Waves news team is assembling Friday’s coverage of the astrology, world events and where they come home to you. There are too many stories to count, each of them both public and deeply personal, but I’ve got a very interesting short list scribbled in purple Sharpie on my desk. We shall see if Pluto has been “demoted.”

Eric Francis

Looking at Wednesday’s aspects, the most psychologically poignant ones involve Mercury, which is a planet that just about everyone can feel and experience directly. Mercury is second only to the Moon for being an obvious influence. So much of our environment is under the influence of Mercury — the Internet itself, phones, language, communication in all forms.

Today, it’s square Hylonome (pronounced hy-la-no-me). This is a picture of the mind fighting internally. It feels like one of those downward cycles people go down when their mind, for whatever reason, turns against itself. I think we all get into these fear and guilt cycles. However, with the media now spewing out economic downturn propaganda 24 hours a day, and the emotional energy rising like the tide with the waxing Moon, we have a lot more to contend with.

Mercury also aspects Eris, in a semisquare angle — 45 degrees, or half a square. This is a lot like a square, but its effects can be concealed from view. And in aspect to Eris, one of those effects is personality chaos — the identity crisis. I have compared Eris to this little theme of everyone having three different business cards and four different email identities, two phone numbers and six careers. Just imagine the emotional content of that condensed into, for example, five minutes of feeling.

In the old days, you just became a nurse and that was what you did. Lately people are trying to decide what they want to be when they grow up at 46.

Let’s consider the relationship between these two functions, Mercury square Hylonome and Mercury semisquare Eris. In the first, the mind over-identifies with one particular self-damaging emotion. In the other involves a scrambling of one’s identity, no matter what it is. The two make an interesting compliment of energies — but to make use of it, you need to do a gutsy trick: surrender from a kind of negativity into mental chaos and the unfamiliar, which I would guess that many people feel more.

Artists do this all the time — let go into the creative void. It may be overstating the case to say that when I am feeling stuck or negative and I let go into chaos, I basically let go of my mind and then let it re-materialize in the form of a piece of art or creative writing. But if I had to give it an astrological depiction, it would be something like Mercury square Hylonome, Mercury semisquare Eris.

Here are the rest of today’s aspects. I was doing some astral travel to Wales, where I met an astrology Faerie who gave me the aspect list for the year as a gift.

Aug 08, 2003 - Virgo - Weekly

You may fancy yourself a simple person, but this is just another thought. All people are complicated. You surely have a simple side, the ability to interact in clear ways on clear terms with people. And, because your mind is so active — in part, analyzing itself — you have many extraordinarily complex facets. Don’t get lost in them now. Please don’t create issues where none exist. Certain aspects are now allowing you a unique perspective on your past sense of self. This is a good time to respond to every situation you face as if it were now, not then.

Fifteen minutes to midnight

Dear Friend and Reader:

WHEN ASTRONOMERS (and old-fashioned astrologers) measure the year, one way they do it is to divide the year into 24 “hours.” Midnight is when the Sun arrives in the fist degree of Aries. So measuring the year using this method, it’s now about fifteen minutes to midnight — meaning that we’re quite close to the vernal equinox. And fans of the Doomsday Clock will recognize the metaphor. I am hearing a lot of my [even] sensible friends talking about various shades of dread and doom.

Eric Francis

Speaking of doom, today is the 5th anniversary of the bombing of Iraq. The war, if you can really call it that — it’s really a stuck occupation — has now lasted considerably longer than World War II and half the length of the Vietnam War, if you count from the Tonkin Gulf Incident to the fall of Saigon. Here is today’s edition for all readers, which reprints my original article on the invasion from March 21, 2003.

Thankfully, despite humanity’s persistently violent qualities, nature keeps on moving through her cycles. Equinox means equal night and day, which actually lasts for about a week; night and day are not equal for just one night, as is usually thought. It’s a little phase, and it develops gradually, so actually we’re in it now; but the official moment of “The Equinox” is when the Sun reaches the beginning of Aries, exact Thursday, March 20 at 1:48 am EDT.The Aries ingress, though a “time of balancing,” is always a hot spot. This year, we have added factors pushing up the temperature. For example, we’ve all heard once or twice that Pluto is in Capricorn. Capricorn is 90 degrees away from Aries, which is called a square. Pluto happens to be in the second degree of Cap, that is, very early Cap — so when the Sun enters Aries, one of the first things will do is make a square to Pluto.

That would be more than enough, really — but then mix in a Full Moon just after the Aries ingress. So now, it’s equinox + Sun square Pluto + Full Moon.

But we are still not done. There are other planets hanging out in the neighborhood, that is, on this thing we’re talking about called the cardinal cross — the type of sign that both Aries and Capricorn are. For example, Mars is in early Cancer. An asteroid called Pallas Athene is in early Aries, a few degrees ahead of the Sun. There’s other stuff in the vicinity as well, such as a Centaur planet called Bienor. All of this space debris is in the very early cardinal signs; all of it is in a strong aspect to the first degree of Aries (called the Aries Point, which we’ll cover in greater detail Wednesday).

To make a long story somewhat short, the Aries Point is a degree where public and private spheres of existence intersect, and the charts have been glowing with this point for a while — Pluto is the most potent thing setting off the Aries Point at the moment. We’ve had a fine example of “the personal is political” quality of this degree with the whole Eliot Spitzer scenario, wherein the emperor of the Empire State had sex at the Emperor’s Club and is now unemployed.

This is a textbook case of the news hotting up (as they say in England) when the Aries Point gets into the act; and with Pluto (that shadowy antiplanet which used to be considered the edge of reality) in Capricorn (the sign of government and big corporations) we have a fine setup for the emperor being disrobed or defrocked. In other words, it’s government scandal season, though it would be nice if one of those scandals would involve a corporation (Halliburton would do) making billions on another fine Plutonian topic, death.

I have a new theory, though — death is too hard to talk about, so we take Pluto Lite and talk about sex, disparagingly, because of a cultural mandate that such discussions must be embarrassing. I think that we are currently in the midst of one vast lesson in what I will sum up as “how not to talk about sex.”

However, if we’re going to do better, we have to do better. Have you had an interesting, deep (that is to say, honest) conversation about sex with someone lately? This is my get out the vote drive…now would be a great time, because the astrology is like a wind in your sails, and if you have just the right conversation with just the right person, I assure you that it will not end there.

However, let’s consider one last Pluto/Scorpio type issue: the world financial markets. With all this astrology piled up on the Aries Point and the markets shaking from the credit crisis, we do have a real question on our hands. Can they stand the impact of the astrology? It is indeed impact. I know plenty of people who are sitting around waiting for a meltdown of the economic system. It would be the ultimate case of “the personal is the political.” I’li be developing this story for Friday’s edition of Planet Waves Astrology News, and keep a close eye on what emerges this week.

Leo Moon, Pisces Sky

Dear Friend and Reader:

Watching the my chart animation program go by in realtime, sometimes I get the feeling that I have the speed set too fast. We’re well past third quarter Moon, sailing right into the vernal equinox. The Moon is in Leo; next comes Virgo; then the Full Moon.

How recently it seemed dark around the clock, up in this hemisphere.

Equinox is a time of balance and rebirth. I must admit that for much of my time studying the cycles, I have overlooked the vital quality of this time of equanimity, of the harmony of male and female energies, and of a gentle tipping point.

The symbol of the egg, taken over as part of Easter, goes back for many centuries BC, and the egg is the container of gestation; it’s also a symbol for our existence within the cosmos. The Full Moon arriving within about 36 hours of the Sun’s ingress to Aries is going to test and stretch that balance, and it’s testing it right now. Note that the energy of future aspects is not contained entirely in the future — it’s integrated into what is developing right now. One excellent way to use astrology is to get in sync with what is developing.

The Full Moon aspects the Aries Point (with the Sun on the Aries Point), as well as Mars, Pluto, Pallas Athene (politics, advocacy, strategy) and a Centaur planet called Bienor (Everyman). Suffice it to say, this is impassioned, dramatic Full Moon energy but it bears the mark of breaking a deadlock that is so vital to the energy of the Moon opposite Sun aspect.

We have a few days before this energy reaches its peak. Personally, I’m going to take up this project of identifying the impasses in my life, and setting the intention for letting them go. I am, as I write, aware of this. Each day that goes by represents the unfolding of a different story for everyone. For some, big aspects such as this, which draw in many potent points in the sky and in our natal charts, are liberating times. Often the most challenging planetary picture can feel exhilarating.

For others, processes like we’re experiencing are profoundly frightening, when we feel called upon to let go of everything we know and are familiar with — or so it seems. We really don’t know what we’re doing, or what we’ve done, till we have some perspective, but fear is a force that calls for respect and deserves to be given a voice.

I know that there’s a superstition floating around that says when you reveal your fear, you cast a vote for making it real. I prefer another approach, which is to allow the fear to speak, listen to what it’s saying, and respond appropriately. Think of that voice as coming from a frightened child. If a kid were afraid that there were monsters under the bed, do you think he or she would feel better if they revealed that fear to an adult, or kept it bottled up inside?

Venus in Pisces opposes Saturn in Virgo

Published by Priya Kale under Daily Astrology

It’s almost the weekend and the impending Venus-Saturn opposition is sending out ripples of tension. I am aware this is not the easiest time for most, but as we know the flip side to a challenge is always opportunity. In financial situations, professional as well as personal relationships on the one hand, we may now be grappling with issues of authority, re-thinking and restructuring old commitments, while the heart nurtures a dream that keeps us afloat in this river of hope.

With Saturn retrograde in Virgo, this can be a deeply internal aspect giving us the chance to rebuild from the inside out. Imagination needs to take precedence over critical and self-critical tendencies at the moment. In tuning in to the intuitive, emotional and sensitive energy we can bridge the divide with practical things we must now take care of.

We are also now heading towards the Spring Equinox and a powerful Full Moon in Libra. On this night in India we celebrate ‘Holi Pornima’ marking the arrival of spring. Metaphorically and astrologically this is saying “winter” is over, things are changing and it’s time for new life. As difficult as things may seem at the moment we are reaching a point of undeniable progress as long as we remember to keep the song in our heart alive.

It’s about 2:45 AM here in Mumbai; It’s been a month to the date since I’ve been home and I can’t believe how time has flown. Tomorrow I am finally taking off on a REAL vacation to Goa with one of my closest friends Geetanjali — probably the first I have had in over a year. It’s going to be three days of sun, sand, sea and relaxation with the best company I could ask for.

I will be off the blog for a couple of days and back on the 19th just in time for the glorious much awaited Libra Full Moon. Till then take care of yourselves and be gentle with each other,

Love,

Priya

“Whatever you are negotiating with a partner, make sure you give it a couple of weeks. You don’t need to rush the situation, and you can at the same time have every faith that developments are proceeding in a direction that will benefit everyone. I say this recognizing that there have been what seem like substantial disagreements and even doubts about the inherent compatibility of the situation. But you live in a moving landscape, and people’s lives are very much in motion right now. So, when in doubt, keep moving and watch how your relationships change. FRIDAY’S Planet Waves is Out!

Published by admin under Daily Astrology

FRIDAY’S EDITION of Planet Waves Astrology News has just been issued to subscribers. The link is here. If you are missing your password, please contact the office by email or at (877) 453-8265.

The edition looks at the Eliot Spitzer scandal unfolding in New York. We go into detail on how prostitution relates to the astrology of the 8th house, which covers sexuality, secrets, taboos, the resources of other people, debts and transformation. The scandal covers all these things — and the chart is an extremely interesting look at just how accurate astrology can be.

We’ve also got the Eric Francis weekly horoscope (available only from us). Here is the Pisces horoscope for this week:

Here is some news — Venus has just arrived in your sign. Just when you thought things could not get better, they are showing plenty of potential for getting a lot better. If at any point, the good things in life may seem to confront a limit, remind yourself that it’s probably a false block. The way around any obstacle, however, will involve looking to the left and the right; it will involve the cooperation of someone else; it will involve taking a chance; and it will call for you seeing the limitation as a gift. You don’t need to fall in love with the limitation, just acknowledge it, thank it and then reach in another direction. You seem to be faced with two choices: a highly structured situation that is heavily laden with the energy of the past; or a daring new situation that is calling on you to let go of the fears you so recently determined you don’t actually need. Now comes the moment of decision.

We’ve also got preview coverage of the United Astrology Conference, Political Waves by Judith Gayle, and an announcement for how to get a personal consultation from Eric Francis.

Venus in Pisces sextiles Pluto in Capricorn, Moon in Gemini

Published by Priya Kale under Daily Astrology

Bandstand

I just got back from a walk by the sea (above), about five minutes away from where I live. I have been coming here ever since I was a child for over 30 years. To this day watching the setting sun shimmer on the rising waves at Bandstand brings me to a state of blissful calm, and I couldn’t help but relate this to the emotionally passionate energy we are now feeling.

Venus has now entered Pisces bringing us into more soulful realms of relating. Today Venus makes a powerful sextile to Pluto (in a close trine to Saturn) as she heads towards her opposition to Saturn on Saturday.

We are undergoing a process of deep transformation in our professional and personal relationships. There may a process of internal questioning we are going through as we reexamine old commitments to see if they still hold water. It’s like being pulled back to the shore while longing to set sail into uncharted waters.

But this growing feeling of tension is leading us towards an inevitable break through of sorts. Today’s aspect are creating a fertile climate, grounding us as we take a step closer to making our dreams into tangible reality. With the Moon in Gemini, it is also easier now to communicate our feelings — which maybe ablaze with passion at the moment.

Venus ingresses Pisces, the Spitzer scandal

Published by Priya Kale under Daily Astrology

Dear Friends and Readers,

Welcome to the new blog! A big thanks to Anatoly our webmaster who has been working hard to get this up and we’re finally done! For now you can access all previous posts at this link. As we edge closer to the Spring Equinox we are stepping into a brave new world, evident in the little and big things taking place around us — and we ain’t seen nothing yet!

Before I go on to the astrology I have to take a minute to acknowledge the latest bout of insanity in the news. Although, I have to admit I have been a little out of the loop for the past few weeks, yesterday I spoke with a friend in back in NYC who informed of the latest news regarding Governer Spitzer and his involvement in a prostitution ring. I was pretty speechless to say the least, not because of what I heard, but more because of the furor it created.

I am not condoning his actions, but there are greater transgressions made that are “forgiven” or conveniently “forgotten”. Many of you may know or have noticed “politics” is not my thing and I must admit that is largely because I am fairly jaded regarding most politicians. I do though believe the power of change lies with the common people and that’s especially why I admire those who actively take a stance to instigate that change. Here is an excerpt from a letter I received in my mail box today that I thought deserved deeper thought…

“… let’s also do a little math. Yesterday, the stunning revelation about Governor Spitzer was made public. Today the state GOP called for his impeachment! This administration’s contempt for the rule of law, basic civil rights and our constitutionally mandated system of checks and balances is legion and yet years went by without a word from the Democrats. Nothing. I mean, crickets! Sex with a prostitute as compared with, oh I don’t know:

- Providing false and misleading intelligence to Congress and the American people to sell the Iraq war
- The outing of a covert CIA operative
- The illegal wiretapping of American citizens in violation of the Fourth Amendment
- The politization of the Department of Justice

But holding hearings is and should be a non-partisan act. We cannot allow this or ANY administration, regardless of party, the belief that they are above the law. If allowed to go unpunished the consequences will be devastating. Future administrations will have precedent to break the law with impunity. We are on a very slippery slope here, Friends, and we must do something about it now! These lawbreakers must be held accountable and finally there are rumblings in Congress that, with enough public support they’d be willing to move forward. Oversight isn’t their strong suit as we all know and most of the time they seem to have no other interest than abdicating their own authority. But I see a window here, Folks. So please, Democrat and Republican, Americans of all hue and stripe, this is about protecting The Constitution. I urge you to sign the petition and email the House Judiciary Committee and your own representative letting them know of your support for hearings. I’ve provided links below.

Thanks for taking the time to read my note. And thanks even more for taking a stand. We can do this.”

http://wexlerwantshearings.com/

http://judiciary.house.gov/contact.aspx

http://www.house.gov/pelosi/contact/contact.html

Now I’m not saying that prostitution is a good thing. I am a woman and know what it feels like to be violated for sex or for money. But this is not about right or wrong — this is about the truth and the truth is — we have bigger issues at stake that we let slide under the carpet. Why does sex have to be such a big issue, frankly I think the only people who are truly going to be affected by his behavior are his wife and family.

How come there is not the same urgency when there are worse transgressions made by politicians that actually affect “us” the people, our rights, liberty and constitution? Every time we feed into this media frenzy all we are doing is giving the real “evil-doers” a chance to get away in a cloud of smoke. Again this is not about right and wrong — which are ultimately moral judgments that society has “agreed” upon. This is about the truth — especially the truth that we are not being told.

Venus in Pisces

Getting back to the astrology — notably Venus is in the last degree of Aquarius and was conjuncting the North Node in Aquarius. Venus in Aquarius does give us an image of a “group of women” which may give us a glimpse into what is surfacing in the news. Mercury not far behind will likely bring more ’shocking’ news. Today Venus ingresses Pisces; as she heads closer towards her opposition to critical unforgiving Saturn in Virgo at the end of the week — we are likely to see a further confrontation of the events that are now being played out.

On a personal level Venus is Pisces is awakening a deep sensitivity, tuning into the softer dreamy vibrations of Neptune. What we likely seek now is a soul connection, a divine experience, a brush with something deeply magical. Her opposition to Saturn is bringing to surface issues and old commitments that need to be re-examined under the light of everything we have recently learnt. As Venus continues her journey through the sign she will go on to make conjunctions to Vesta, Uranus in Pisces freeing us to follow our the gentler musings of our heart.

Tuesday, Mar. 11, 2008 | Moon in Taurus

Published by admin under Daily Astrology

Venus and Mercury are now at the end of the journey through Aquarius and courrently straddling the North Node; Venus is in a separating aspect while Mercury approaches it’s conjunction. It’s our sense of idealism that is pulling us forward now, helping us find that crucial balance between heart and head.

Today the Moon continues her journey through Taurus continuing the indulgent mood, increasing our craving for physical comfort, helping us enjoy the simple pleasures of life. With a concentration of planets in Pisces and Aquarius this is providing us much needed emotional grounding as we allow our imagination to soar. As she squares the planets in Aquarius, the lesson we need to learn is that our relationships can only benefit from allowing each other freedom to express out own individuality — it is “space” that is now bringing us closer together and strengthening bonds.

Meanwhile, I just got back to dentist after having my wisdom tooth extracted. Definitely not the most pleasant experience and I’m nursing a fat numb jaw. My time in Mumbai is flying as it always does but I’d rather not think about that for now. I will be taking a few days off at towards the end of the when I take off on a real vacation somewhere by the sea, before I return to the big apple.

I leave you now with the Oracle, enjoy the Taurus Moon… I will be back here tomorrow with daily transits.

It’s vital that you sort out your actual feelings from what you think is going on in someone else’s mind, and to find out from them what’s really unfolding in their world.
