Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope 995 — Sun Enters Taurus, Mars in the Grand Cross and a Solar Eclipse on the Way

Today I will be writing Planet Waves Weekly #995, my horoscope readings that will be published Friday morning. They will cover the Sun’s ingress into Taurus, and they’re also the last horoscope before the grand cross on April 23 — the main event that I cover in the 2014 Spring Report and The Mars Effect annual readings.

My weekly readings, which cover your sign and your rising sign, are part of a subscription product that’s sent to our members every Friday morning. They are considered a Sun-sign horoscope, but in reality, they’re a lot more. I take in many more factors than your sign, and give myself more space to work than just about any other weekly horoscope.

I use the space to deliver a clear, useful message, something dependable that you can actually take with you; something that will make a difference that day, and for the coming week or two. The key to a good horoscope is boiling down the data into something that is clear and helpful, not loaded with astrological language (I explain and teach that other places).

These readings are as real as astrology gets. They’re different than a natal chart reading, but there are many ways to do astrology well. In the end, the astrology you get is as good as the astrologer you get — and their ability to both interpret and convey an idea.

In this week’s edition, I am factoring in the following major events:

We just experienced an unusually potent lunar eclipse in Libra, and the world is still vibrating from that. This influenced relationships and what you might think of as environmental circumstances — and may have pushed you to make up your mind about something after a long delay. Eclipses have lasting impact, and need to be considered long after they happen.

The Sun enters Taurus on Saturday (Sunday in the UK and Europe). The Sun’s change of sign represents a new cycle and a shift in energy. The season enters its peak. The Sun enters the new sign in a conjunction to two minor planets, 1992 QB1 and Bienor. I am probably the only horoscope writer even dimly aware of these planets, and they fill in the story of what this year’s Sun Taurus transit is about.

Mars retrograde in Libra finally aligns with the grand cross on Tuesday, which is a kind of cosmic trigger and the main event of 2014. This is followed a week later by a solar eclipse in Taurus, and I have that in mind as well as an event toward which everything is leading.

You might ask how it’s possible to cover all of this in a horoscope. I would ask how it’s possible to leave it out and still have a dependable reading.

When I began my astrology career (well into a long journalism career), I trained specifically to be a horoscope writer. I was fascinated by the fact that a horoscope column could work at all, or be done well.

Following many years of spiritual training (A Course in Miracles and other work) and study of divination (runes, tarot, I Ching, Kabbalah and many other systems) I began studying the work of Patric Walker, and focused my intentions on writing a high-quality horoscope column. I knew that the horoscope column was undeveloped territory and that it could be meaningful in a way that had not been done before. In the years that followed, my work was published in many American newspapers and magazines, London newspapers including The Mail and The Daily Mirror, as well as in newspapers in Australia, Canada and across Europe.

Today it’s available to Planet Waves members. Your membership will also include my weekly articles (this week, I will be writing about Chiron, a planetary discovery that changed the modern practice of astrology), as well as access to 10 years of archives and all horoscopes dating back to the late 1990s. It’s an amazing service — made for someone who takes astrology (and your life) seriously.
