Sept. 21, 2014 Climate March

This pair of photos is from yesterday's massive climate march in Manhattan. Early estimates put the turnout at about 310,000 marchers, although given that the march took about five hours, it might be significantly higher. The photo on the left, by Amanda Painter, shows a banner for "Flood Wall Street," a direct-action sit-in and blockade of Wall Street that was scheduled to happen today and involved Chris Hedges. The photo on the right, by Hal J. Cohen, shows a puppet depicting what Lady Liberty might have to resort to if unmitigated global warming continues.

  1. Thanks for posting these, Amanda — wonderful pics! I’m so encouraged by this enthusiasm, and the months of activism that put it all together, step by step. Reports are that over 675,000 marched across the globe and many more joined via heart-chakra. And in NY, not a single incident involving the cops. So here’s to us … and an early Equinox hug to all!

  2. Appreciate this Amanda, “we need a breakthrough” indeed! Yesterday’s Venus-Saturn and Mars-Neptune aspects also triggered the U.S. Sibly Vesta at 19+ Taurus (Saturn opposite and Venus trine) and the U.S. Sibly Jupiter at 5+ Cancer (Mars quincunx and Neptune trine). U.S. Vesta sits in the Sibly chart’s 5th house (demonstrate) at the cusp of the 6th house of health. U.S. Jupiter rules the Sibly ascendant and transiting Mars in Sagittarius will reach that degree in less than 2 weeks, just as transiting Ceres opposes the U.S. Vesta. What a juicy topic this will be in the upcoming debates between the States’ candidates for U.S. Senate and House seats. It does my ld heart good!
