Special Audio Edition: Saturn-Uranus

Daily Astrology with Len Wallick is right below this post. And don’t miss the Cosmic Confidential Detective Starter Kit.

Good morning. I’m here with a special audio edition, complete with all kinds of enthusiasm, expletives, dangerous political opinions and the Aries Point.

Today — as I type — Saturn and Uranus are in their fifth and last opposition for this cycle, from Libra to Aries. This is the meeting of seemingly irreconcilable opposites, which we are learning to integrate. It is where change meets stability, and where one is not possible without the other. Nothing ever stays the same. If we can get in on the process of change and evolution, there we find some true stability.

And, incredibly in this moment of astrology, the Sweden-based website Wikileaks yesterday uploaded 91,000 pages of documents about the ‘war’ in Afghanistan. As I explain in the audio, this is stunning in that on the first of these oppositions, Barack Obama was elected promising to escalate the war. I know hardly anyone remembers this; I remember it because I voted for him despite this, having other concerns. And now, the truth comes out.

Here is a version of the story from The Guardian. Here is the story from the Washington Post. And here is a profile on the founder of Wikileaks, Julian Assange.

Here is how Wikipedia describes Wikileaks — the two are not associated; ‘wiki’ is a Hawaiian word for ‘quick’. And here is Wikileaks itself. Note, the site is getting a lot of traffic and is not coming up. [Note, a reader had posted mirror sites to the first comment below.]

There are some good quotes from Assange in the Wa Po article. I was half awake this morning listening to him being interviewed and I missed his direct quotes, but what he said was really interesting, more philosophical than what you’ll read in that article. Here is how I remember it: information is relational. Once it enters an equation, there is no going back. This kind of information affects the whole situation; the whole gestalt. I am sure this will be repeated — I hope someone has the sense to highlight it.

Simplified chart for the moment of completing the audio. Virgo is rising here in NY at the time; Saturn is below the ascendant, to the left; Jupiter and Uranus are opposite Saturn on the right; Pluto is toward the bottom, at 90-degrees to the opposition. There is other stuff not shown in the simple version -- such as Mercury conjunct Isis/Transpluto -- putting the pieces together and getting the word out. Click for bigger chart.

Astrology freaks who buzz around Planet Waves: here are some things we can do. Let’s look at all five of these oppositions; the dates are easy to find. Let’s take a new look at Obama’s chart (his birthday is coming up on Aug. 4 so that is a good occasion). Let’s see if we can track down when Wikileaks got its domain. For those who are power-surfers, that can be dug out of the Whois database.

And: here to the right is a simplified version of the chart for my doing this audio, which shows Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto; and if you click the chart, a bigger, more complex version comes up.

  1. OK ‘nother request…………what is the SCARIEST chart you have ever seen?
Would it be, John Negroponte?…………….. Yes I didn’t even need to look at her chart to be terrified of her ( Palin) in the first 10 min, of her public appearance. I also read the body language of her kids that day!
Public education took a severe decline in fall of 1973. My Brother had graduated from SUNY Rochester, and had his first job, teaching Shakespeare in the Baltimore public school system. Nixon cut the funding for the Arts.& he was laid off. It has been all downhill from that point on! My kids were in middle school at the time, & their high school experience ( Phila. public schools) did not begin to match the education their parents got. Our high school in 50’s rural S. Jersey, was the equivalent of a college education today! ( liberal arts, minus the techy stuff)
Thanks for the special audio………… as I track it all 5 times events in my {personal} life follow one specific theme! Curious to see how today will wrap! AN ending or a new beginning?

  2. Recently saw a brilliant documentary on Woodstock, which gives an amazing picture of that extraordinary event. And what comes out is how in spite of all the horrific goings on at that time (Kennedy, Luther King murders, Vietnam war etc,) people were determined to celebrate the joys of life and youth – to spit in the eye of cynicism, violence and warmongerers. One of the most uplifting things I’ve seen in a long time.

  3. The Sixties were trashed with incidents that ended the dream of the Sixties. The era begins with a tragedy — the assassination of John Kennedy coalesces an era that up till that point had been known as Camelot.

In 1964 there is the Tonkin Gulf non-incident, which begins what we think of as the Vietnam War.

The year before Woodstock, Manson, the Moon landing and Altamont, MLK and RFK were assassinated within weeks. Then Nixon was elected. That was a total political coup. Johnson was so disgraced by Vietnam that he could not run for re-election and basically handed the election to Nixon. So 1968 kind of sucked in the U.S. (it’s still spoken of with reverence in France.)

The Beatles break up in 1969, in addition to Altamont and Manson and much else.

In 1970, four students were murdered at Kent State; others were shot with riot shotguns in the occupation of SUNY Buffalo — this, in protests associated with Nixon revealing that he had been bombing Cambodia.

So we see the mixed bag, to put it mildly, that goes all the way through the era, reflected many ways in the astrology. But the thing that made the era what it was, was something other than these harrowing events. There was a spirit of adventure, determination and revolution; leaps forward in all of the arts, in education, in social mores and in politics (finally due to Watergate). Something else was happening in the background of those horrid developments that made Woodstock in particular so amazing, and the Moon landing such a cause for the celebration of human achievement.

We are still a bit shy of two years before the exact Uranus-Pluto square, which is exact for the first of seven times in June 2012. So by one metric that puts us in approximately early 1963 — when so much was happening but there wasn’t a name for it, and so much about to happen. Imagine if you knew what was about to go down.

Here is Dylan, writing in 1962:

  4. Eric:

On this audio clip you mention the anti-sixties. . .the astrology of now versus 1969. You mention Neil Armstrong and Woodstock. But, I’m sure you realize that we also had Altamont Speedway and the Manson murders in 1969. . . which seemed to symbolize the end of the dream of the 1960’s.

  5. Thanks for the bonus audio, Eric. I appreciate your timely advice.

Regarding the currently challenging astrology: It’s easy to get freaked out. Go ahead, everybody: Jump up and down, holler and scream. And once we move through that fear, and acknowledge the inevitability of change, perhaps we can be open to the opportunity for, and be a catalyst for, positive change, even if that change feels a little uncomfortable. How are we getting ourselves ready to help create something new and better?

Regarding the wikilinks story: What a wake-up call to those of us who need it. Many of us are going to have to grow out of our gullible, spoon-feed-me natures, and grow up enough to at least learn to hold the spoon and examine the contents before ingesting. (Would you rather pass, or have to throw up later? Are we done yet with learning things the hard way?) Discernment is the order of the day.

Beyond questioning government officials and the media, and pointing out the problems, let’s ask ourselves if we’re ready to roll up our sleeves and work toward solutions (but only if we have our own personal business gracefully dealt with).

In closing: With so much to distrust out there, I’m grateful to discover that Planet Waves is trustworthy.

  6. Hahahaha! There is no wonder no wonder at all why I do not get ‘involved’ in local politics anymore…..ESPECIALLY anything related to schools……beginning with the PTA.

It does not take much observation to understand why so little that is actually productive gets done.

(On the other hand, I’ve enough experience as a part of Corporate Management to know this in advance – and have a personal history of being consistently despised for Getting Things Done – and Well.)

Surely there are communities out there with intelligent life forms? 😀 ( Laughing with good humor!)

  7. PLEASE. It is so unfair to tease. What is the scariest chart you’ve ever seen and why is it so scary? You can no longer say no one has asked.

I felt that you held back a great deal in 2008 when you discussed Palin’s chart, and that there was more you saw but did not write about.

If you want an atmosphere of danger, excitement, and intrigue, nothing beats a school board meeting in a district with rabid parents. City Council meetings are tame in comparison. And the Texas Legislature is probably the funniest, particularly when discussing some essential law such as banning sex toys (overturned by the Fifth Circuit), or limiting the number of sex toys an individual can own (six or fewer is OK, but more than sex and you must be a professional). You can’t make this stuff up.

  8. Thank you Leah

Linda, I am with you on Obama. I am not judging. No, I’m not impressed and I realize a lot of people hate him. David Byrne said the same thing about his friends who were full of adulation for Bush. He just didn’t get that they didn’t see what an asshole Bush was, they fell for it. So now it’s all the vogue to hate Obama, he’s a sell out, he’s into a war, etc etc.

Most people who have an opinion or two about politics have never even been to a town board meeting. So I would say that if you’re full of piss and vinegar about national politics, take a wild night out and go to the Country Board of Chosen Freeholders or County Legislature or the Township Committee in your town and see what it takes to move a government. They meet frequently — at least once a month. So you won’t have to wait long.

  9. There are others of us who heard (and remember) what Obama “promised” during his campaign – and again voted for the best option rather than someone who we could agree with on every campaign point.

On the other hand, I feel that it IS POSSIBLE he has an agenda for changing what he can from the inside..infiltrating the organization so to speak…….and to have that opportunity he first needed to get elected (thus needed to make – and follow through on – promises that would sway enough people to his vote). Very intellegent plan.

On yet another hand (I have many) once inside an organization; how able is one to function over the long haul within the parameters of one’s ideals and original plan?

I am beyond “sad” to consider the lives he is sending into Afganistan NOW as “sacrifice” as we might consider life in the Gulf as sacrifice to our “getting it” about the ecology.

But the planets are ripe for overt change, as you have pointed out.
We shall see what changes come of these “leaks”.
Perhaps the Universe has a “finesse” in play.

  10. So-called liberals don’t know how to send their message, and they are wracked with cowardice because they’re not really liberal.

When I hear a so-called conservative talk about the Obama administration as ‘terrifying’ to the corporate system, I want to yak. So ‘they’ can go around saying that he’s a commie, socialist, blah blah, and nobody knows what to say.

Anyone aware knows that ‘fixing the political system’ and ‘fixing the environment’ takes authentic self-reflection and awareness. Think of how many personal assumptions you have to challenge to do something simple like cut back on plastic.

  11. Here is how I remember it: information is relational. Once it enters an equation, there is no going back. This kind of information affects the whole situation; the whole gestalt.

Propaganda-producing conservatives have recognized this and used it to great advantage for some time now.

  12. Hi Eric,

From Cryptogon below and I sent a mail to Kevin re when Wikileaks orginated. He has posted about them on his website before.

    Release date July 25, 2010
    Summary

25th July 2010 5:00 PM EST WikiLeaks has released a document set called the Afghan War Diary (AWD), an extraordinary compendium of over 91,000 reports covering the war in Afghanistan from 2004 to 2010.

The reports, while written by soldiers and intelligence officers mainly describing lethal military actions involving the United States military, also include intelligence information, reports of meetings with political figures, and related detail.

The document collection will shortly be available on a dedicated webpage <http://wardiary.wikileaks.org/> .

The reports cover most units from the US Army with the exception of most US Special Forces’ activities. The reports do not generally cover top-secret operations or European and other ISAF Forces operations.

We have delayed the release of some 15,000 reports from the total archive as part of a harm minimization process demanded by our source. After further review, these reports will be released, with occasional redactions, and eventually, in full, as the security situation in Afghanistan permits.

The data is provided in CSV and SQL formats, sorted by months, and also was rendered into KML mapping data.
