  1. No, Eric, I did not miss the “irony” of this li’l funny. And yes, Fei, I do appreciate Jen’s point that lies have long legs. The times they are a-changed, but the mighty Wurlitzer plays on.

What I object to is seeing the unsubstantiated allegation, the very centerpiece of the Obama regime’s case for war, presented entirely without irony. As I have noted elsewhere on Planet Waves, the casual repetition of this phrase is functional war propaganda.

  2. bodymindalchemy:

Note Jen referenced Saddam Hussein’s gassing of the Kurds — occurring long before 9-11 as a talking point to go to war against Iraq. In fact the entire piece is about all the talking points that took us to war ten years ago.

I also think the point of Jen’s piece is that there appears to be numerous about-faces on the push to go to war, depending on the time, the people, the president and the historical climate.

I think the cartoon shows she is against US military intervention in Syria, and anywhere. She questions the turnabout, particularly amongst conservatives who jingoed us into Iraq War 2 in the early 21st century, now that someone other than Bush is in office.

  3. Thanks, Planet Waves, for beating the drum of war by repeating the phrase, “Assad gassed his own people” without evidence or facts. The cartoon ridicules anyone who dares question the blatant war propaganda.
