What’s New — Leo New Moon 2014

When the Sun and Moon conjoin at 3+ Leo just before 6:42 pm EDT (22:42 UT) Saturday, work to distinguish what’s new in order to have your situation in hand. Based on its timing and context, the impending Leo New Moon implies something new is, in fact, at hand. Your part is to grasp the situation.

Astrology by Len Wallick

Begin with the sky, and consider. Consider how every object in the solar system visible to the unaided eye will either have changed sign or changed direction since July 13 when the luminaries conjoin on Saturday.

That’s right. In less than two weeks, the Sun, Moon (repeatedly, of course), Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter have all already changed signs.

As tomorrow merges into Saturday, Mars will follow suit when it moves into tropical Scorpio after having been confined to Libra (as a consequence of retrograde) since Dec. 7 last year. Saturn, for its part, resumed direct apparent motion only last Sunday after being in retrograde since March 2 of this year.

Next, take into account the idea upon which astrology is based. The idea is that you are part of the solar system, and that the motions in the sky above correlate with movements in your life here on Earth.

Finally, regard how few people even notice the sky now. When the known solar system consisted of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, nearly everybody watched the heavens regularly without commercial interruption.

Back then, were all the planets to have changed either sign or motion in less than a fortnight just before the Sun and Moon renewed their monthly cycle, it would surely have piqued everybody’s awareness.

Now awareness is often held captive, albeit with frequent commercial interruption, by device (or devices). In the context of human history that’s a new situation for our kind. It’s the fundamental “new” you need to distinguish before discerning what’s new for you personally.

First, of course, you are distinguished. Just by reading this far, you are made aware of the wholesale changes that have recently taken place above. That awareness sets you apart with the knowledge that it’s an opportune time to make or prepare for wholesale changes in your life here below.

In addition, you also know that a conjunction of the Sun and Moon is coming this weekend on the heels of all those changes in the sky. Just as farmers have (until relatively recently in human history) traditionally made a practice of planting seeds with the New Moon, you can plant the seeds of changes you would like to see as the Moon gradually becomes visible again.

Last, but not least, the position and movement of the so-called “personal planets” (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars) at the time of Saturday’s New Moon can inform you of your personal place in what’s implicitly new for all of us.

The merger of the luminaries so close to Jupiter in fiery Leo indicates you should seed the expansion of self-expression. Express what you are conscious of. Express your intuitions as well. Let your awareness and emotional needs be known, and know enough to leave it at that so as to honor what others are going through.

For with Mercury and Venus sharing watery Cancer and (after tomorrow) Mars sharing watery Scorpio with Saturn, it’s implied how you should both modulate your expressions and nourish the self-expression of others as part of the context in which the Leo New Moon will take place.

Be sensitive to how others are, each in their own way, going through something of the same thing you are. Allow expression to be a two-way street.

That way, you can let others know what’s new with you while learning also what’s new with them. In doing so, you may very well find a common ground in which all seeds may grow together. For many of us, that would represent something very new indeed.

For you, an understanding how Saturday’s New Moon is indeed new would mean having the situation in hand just when a great deal of change is at hand. Even if that’s nothing new for you, it’s surely a good place to be and a good direction in which to be heading.

  1. Meanwhile, Venus was trine Neptune today and then the Moon joined in as she made a conjunction to Venus. Could you feel the love? Even when we are spooked by things that go bump in the night, sharing our feelings reassures us that we are not alone. If you somehow missed it – that Loving feeling – don’t be sad. Venus will still be in orb of her trine with Neptune (while opposing depth-seeking Pluto who is still in orb of his sextile with Neptune) clear through until the New (Lucky) Moon in Leo. Now, won’t that make any new changes all the nicer?

There sure is a lot to love in this New Moon Len, what with all of Leo’s confidence bolstering and Jupiter bestowing his good luck charm on us all. Chiron still trines Saturn too and Saturn will soon be separating from that annoying quincunx with Uranus. Oh sure, Mars will square Jupiter and the New Moon, but he’s so happy to be out from under the spell of Venus he won’t be in too big a hurry to make Scorpio waves right away.

Pallas too might be doing a little nit-picking toward Juno (Pallas in Virgo square Juno in Gemini), but Juno is saving her best intentions for that exact trine she makes with the north node (the way forward), and anyway, maybe her sextile with Eris and the south node (forget-about-it) might somehow serve to keep Pallas occupied as she and Eris will be in a quincunx. Checking out all the details of that aspect could keep Virgo Pallas busy for days!

Mercury will find himself almost perfectly square the nodes now – at the south bending – so you are quite correct when you advise not to do all the talking. Still, the south bending is a release mechanism so recycling old talking points (give ’em away sez the old south bending) might just make good fodder for new ideas. Shucks, Mercury trines Chiron and Saturn too, so think about healing and re-building when you begin all those new changes.
