Tonight's cover of Planet Waves is a two-frame photo of a public performance using three connected phone booths in Paris. At left are dildos on public display, and the right image is one of three dancers who did a number of striptease routines. The event was part of Nuit Blanche, an all-night annual celebration where the city of Paris is lit up and hosts a diversity of art exhibits and performances.

"My intention was to take the strip-club act, the erotic raw and clichй dance, put it out of context and show-case it on a contemporary art scene," said choreographer Gaлlle Bourges.

Danielle Voirin, our photographer at the scene, described the effect on spectators as "varied between shock and whispering, 'oh la la, is that a...dildo?'...to young men, semi-intoxicated, gawking out of control...to amusement and appreciation for three beautiful women dressing and undressing, not taking themselves or us too seriously."

Some of the scenarios included the dancers in moon suits with 'sex worker' written on the back, wearing cat masks; wearing thongs with long fake hair attached to the front, and cutting it seductively and/or violently with scissors; a girl shaving her underarms, with a towel on her head, in a phone booth; and one girl with a leather whip, spanking another with the telephone booth glass in between.

This was experienced in the center of Paris, on a night when France played New Zealand in rugby, so all of the surrounding cafйs were full of people cheering (France won).

There were 19 phone booths used for art installations for Nuit Blanche and this one was obviously one of the most popular. The booths were surrounded by black curtains that closed for breaks in between the three strip segments and when they opened, people crowded in, almost pushing to get a look.
