Listening to the World Go By

Dear Friend and Reader:

Tonight, I'm sending the new edition of Planet Waves to our 7,800 former subscribers, to let you know what we're doing, and invite you back into the fold (all links below). You helped me build Planet Waves, and now you can take advantage of what we've created, in a time when we are more helpful than ever.

Planet Waves
My basic audio setup includes a Uniden scanner (device right under the candle, made in Sugarloaf), so I can listen to public service activity in my community. I make no secret of the fact that I monitor; I discuss events and procedures with local leaders. Photo by Lanvi Nguyen.
I start tonight's lead article with a description of what it's like to monitor emergency services channels in my area. Compared to what most people think of as "the government" -- with its multibillion dollar budgets, scandals and seemingly urgent but abstract events, local governance is something much different: it mostly involves how the government helps people.

I listen because it's reassuring to me to hear life functioning normally. And with the federal government going insane, many people are stressed out, angry and exhausted. There's a good reason for that: we are in a mess.

Yet Planet Waves readers are the awake types; I know you don't just want to throw up your hands. I offer many suggestions for how to process incoming reality, the news, and your response to it.

My reader Greg Cedarbeard recently wrote to me, "Planet Waves is my last tolerable news source." We know that's true for many people. I put my spiritual training ahead of my considerable experience as a journalist, and write the news like nobody else is doing: in a way that is accessible, gentle, personally relevant, and that sees events in context.

Put simply, I write the news in a way that is: 1. Not horrifying; and 2. Spiritually useful and relevant. Please check out what we're doing these days -- what we're sending out tonight.

Note, most Thursdays, another writer covers the horoscope. Most Mondays, I write it myself, with a short astrological article about the week ahead.

Subscriptions are affordable, packed with value, and a dream for astrology lovers. We even work on a donation basis. Some options even come with a personal reading by me.

Thank you for renewing, reviving or extending your membership. And thanks for trusting me as your astrologer.

With love,
eric
