by Carol McCloud www.GalacticAlchemy.com Mayan Moon Report: Week of May 24, 2004 Dreaming the Future Journeys bring power and love The next week(s) will take us through the 13 day time-pulse of the dreaming lizard, Kan. This period is not so easily understood. It may take months to realize the significance of what we are learning now. We will find ourselves moving back and forth in time bringing back pieces of our future selves into the present. This is an inner journey rather than an outer one. I have always liked the idea of being ahead of myself, like thinking today is Tuesday and it's really only Monday, eventually I could come back to center, be right on time and end up with a whole day or whole bits of information that I didn't think was there. That is what Deja-vu is, our future selves playing with time, coming back and reminding us of what it is we need to be paying attention to in the now. We are not always aware when this is happening, and these days will feel especially dense. A book falls down, the pages open to a picture or idea that you were just thinking about. The phone rings and you know who it is. You meet someone who takes you to a place of rememberance, somewhere you have been before, somewhere in a dream perhaps. Information will be be filtering through like shafts of light on a lazy afternoon. These kind of serendipitous occurances are what helps us to feel our way through the many dimensions of ourselves and learn to navigate those "selves" through time. These days in the cycle of sacred time and the calendar of the Maya are when that feeling or some aspect of who we are is just a little bit ahead of where we are now at. Because everything is happening in the same moment we can bring our consciousness of the future into the present and know that it is already here, that what we are thinking now has already happened. How we want things to be is all in the power of our intention.This would be a good time to practice exersises that help to bring through that knowledge. It is really not that hard to understand when we stop thinking about it and just be with it. It only takes a moment, and suddenly everything will shift in to a new layer of the dream. The key is to find the thing that anchors you to the present and when you are fully anchored you can go anywhere. To understand the pulse of the lizard is to watch how this creature lies motionless, dreaming, but is never fully asleep or awake, because in a moments notice they could be up and running, going from dreaming to waking in a flash. This is the pulse that is dreaming our future and preparing us for the new dream. It is a time period in the calendar where we will feel every aspect of our multidimensional selves "up and running." Our job now is to pay attention and to know that where we are going to or coming from is where we want to be. MON 5/24 4 MANIK (man'eek)) Black/West Keywords: deer, hand, healing, prophecy, potential, balance, the four directions Mars/Saturn conjunction 12 Cancer The fourth day of Manik is the point in the time-pulse that anchors and grounds the energies of the four elements and directions. What we are grounding will be best understood from the signature meaning of the 13 day pulse of Kan. Manik can relate to the healing hand or the closed fist. It's opposite sign is Caban. Caban is the next time-pulse under which both the Venus/Sun occultation (June 8) and Venus rising as Morning star (June 15) occur. This timing is highly significant. As we move around the circle of 20 glyphs and end up in 10 days at the beginning of the pulse of Caban, many more changes will begin to present themselves. Caban is the earthquake as well as the Earth's heartbeat. Crossing over this axis of Caban/Manik in the days ahead is like being plugged into the pulse of the planet as it runs a course through our heart and mind. Both day-signs relate to compassion, love and the mind of the heart. But the shadow side of the deer is one of sacrifice. The deer is willing to give it's life to feed the planet. But know that when we compassionately offer ourselves up to the service of others it can be out of innocence or ignorance. There is a difference. This would be a time to clearly know what it is you are giving up and if it is for the right cause. Today we are moving towards the conjunction of Mars and Saturn which relates to the ending of a powerful cycle that stems from the energies of pushing forward and pulling back. The ending of the old paradigm will always give us the chance for something new, and as we begin this new cycle of Mars/Saturn, while Venus is moving retrograde we can take our story to the next level and find its happy ending. The Sabian symbol for this degree puts things into a positive future perspective. But as we hold on to this beautiful vision of the future, know that Pandoras box has been opened, and we cannot put back all that we have seen into a neat little container. We cannot hide from the truth and we cannot hide from ourselves. What is happening "out there," is only a reflection of what is inside each one of us. We all hold some responsibility for the whole of humanity. How much will have to happen for us to stop this tendency of being passive/aggressive in the way we deal with own or the worlds problems. So much of what we as a culture are feeling has been under the surface and now that "something" has to give. We must speak from our truth. Look around, the generational buck seems to have made it's last pass. And as the Hopi's say, "We are the ones we have been waiting for." The choices we make here and now can change our world for the better or keep us under a cloud of dust and debris, as we try to close that box. How do we want our world to be? These days of future dreaming can make it so. It all begins with us. Not tomorrow. Today. TUE 5/25 5 LAMAT (La'mat) Yellow/South Keywords: rabbit, star, multiply, fertility, seed, increase, growth, create, ripen In the pulse of 13, five is the quintessence, it is the transcendence of the four elements and the physical embodiment of our divine nature. In the cycle of 20, Lamat is the eighth point from which we take what we have learned from the first seven evolutionary steps of the 20 day-signs and begin to multiply our thoughts/ideas and expand our understanding into an infinite number of permutations. Lamat's animal totem is the rabbit and if you are aware of the regenerative pentagonal geometry of the numerical series called Fibonacci, you may have also heard that rabbits breed according to this pattern -- each pair of rabbits like the two consecutive numbers added together will produce the next number. It takes exactly one month for a rabbit to mature, so the number of rabbits that are maturing, mating, gestating and breeding every month will create a sequence that replicates the pattern in the Fibonacci. The Fibonacci sequence begins with zero and one, the unknowable and the known. Add these together and their sum becomes another unity (1). Add these two together and we have 2, add 1+2 and we have the next number, 3, and so on. The sequence produces an endless series 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610. The pentad's principle of regeneration appears not only in rabbits, but in plants, seashells, galaxies, the human body, and everything in nature that is associated with five. This sequence is very much related to the numerical energies and sacred geometry within the Mayan calendar cycle. Another interesting thing to note about 5 Lamat is that as it relates to both the Pentad (5) and the Octad (8) and that it is the archetypal image of a star, relating to the star of Venus, this particular day of the 260 day cycle resonates with our current Venus cycle and it would be a good time to take notice of this star in these last days of visibility prior to its underworld journey below the horizon that begins in early June. Venus, Mars and Saturn are all close together in the western sky these nights, and by actually going out of doors to tune in and feel the energies of these planetary bodies, one can find their own understanding of what the connections might be. There is certainly something going on specifically with the planetary archetypal energies of Venus (lover/feeling/value), Mars (hero/passion/aggression), Saturn (teacher/inhibition/boundaries). This would be a good time to find yourself outside, in touch with the Earth and the Planets, make a shamanic ritual of it, these are days when we can truly dance the consciousness of the stars down to the Earth, to ourselves, and back again. WED 5/26 6 MULUC (Moo'look) Red/East Keywords: river, water, moon, fire, purification, milky way, debt, karma, blood ritual, interdependence The sixth day is the point in the pulse where everything begins to flow again. We have reached a point of the shift of earthly elements to human form and now we are reaching for the union of the divine as it is manifest in form. Muluc is the day-sign that relates us to the power of our past and the power to purify and release what is no longer needed. It is about uncovering and releasing our hidden layers as expressed in the image of the Moon. The milky way galaxy and the river of stars that seem to go on forever are also a symbol of this day-sign. With yesterday and Lamat we began to see and feel the regeneration of the number 5 and the star filled galaxies as they are form spirals in a multitude of ways. Here we are learning to bring this star knowledge into a form that can be felt and purified. These nights the Comet called Linear is quite clear in the evening sky and the message of it's passing or what it may foretell is a potent example of what it means to bring this new consciousness to Earth. The signs are all around. THU 5/27 7 OC (oak) White/North Keywords: wolf, dog, faithful, loyalty, trust, divine laws, terrestrial laws, companionship Moon in Virgo The seventh and center day of the pulse is Oc, the dog. It is the day that will have us moving in all directions. It is the fulcrum or pivot point that holds those multi-directions and dimensions in balance. Oc is about love, loyalty, companionship and connectiveness. It is a day-sign that can become caught up in the emotional dramas that our relationships bring to our attention. It is important to learn to be a witness in our approach to these situations if they become adversarial. Many cultures have the dog as representative of the guide that takes us on our underworld journey. As we are clearly moving through some powerful transits that may have us on an emotional edge, this would be the time to let go of our fears, anger and expectations that have us at a stand off with others. Focus on love without condition or restriction and learn how love can be the boundary between ourselves and others. By understanding and expressing where we stand in our own truth, we can present a peaceful face rather than the hostility or defensiveness that comes from fear and judgment. FRI 5/28 8 CHUEN (chu'en) Black/West Keywords: monkey, raccoon, magic, play, interplay, weaving the history of humanity, the energy of time/space, web of life, creator, craftsman Moon in Libra The intensity of this week comes back into balance as the moon moves into Libra this evening. The eighth day of Chuen, the Monkey, will find us shifting gears as the true integrity of our journey will become clearer. We will feel more connected as we lay down our threads into the weaving of the dreams we have been intending. In the grand scheme of things we are both the weaver and the weave and our story is but a reflection of the whole. It would be good to now understand what we have learned of our mastery in these realms in time-no-time and the initiation and journey that these ancient cycles have been leading us through. In the ancient traditions of the Kiche-Mayan people of the Highlands of Guatemala today is an extremely important celebration and initiation for ones spiritual journey. In the Kiche language the day is called 8 Batz (the name "Chuen" comes from the Yucatec language). It means the first thread or first day of the 260 day sacred calendar cycle. The ritual new year, held in the village of Momostenango, is called "Wajshikib Batz". This is the day when a person assumes their mission in the Mayan Priesthood. This day is a celebration and initiation of the Daykeeper (Aj Kij). It is the culmination of a ritual that began twenty days ago on 1 Batz (Chuen). This celebration and ceremony is another way that the Mayan daykeepers have preserved the days of the Sacred Calendar and the oral traditions of the Mayan people from very ancient times. The Mayan people have never stopped counting the days, it is their legacy and our gift. All we need to do is to find our own connection to this sacred living library. SAT 5/29 9 EB (eeb) Yellow/South Keywords: spiritual path, destiny, road, human, physical pathways, tooth, guide, higher mind, inspiration, wisdom The day-sign of Eb is about the human journey or road to higher consciousness. Today we will be finding ourselves in a deeper alignment in what it means for us to be fully awake, aware and grounded in our reality. What comes up when we meditate on this will show us how close or how far we are from being fully in alignment. Something in the way of a deeper understanding or ability to communicate our ideas of our personal path in this human journey with be presented. SUN 5/30 10 BEN (ben) Red/East Keywords: reed, cane, power, staff, authority, crusader, leader, fire-starter, personal space, abundance, multiplication The tenth day of Ben is the day that will have us manifesting our convictions. When we believe something to be true it usually happens. This is the day-sign of people who set out to change the world. We can do this by changing our minds or by changing our beliefs. Ben is the day sign most connected to the god Quetzacotal/ Kulkulkan, which also relates to Venus, as the morning star symbol of this diety. Ben was thought to be the birth-sign of this feathered serpent, and a day in the cycle when the gods descended to earth. The belief that he did return came in the form of Hernado Cortez in the year of One Reed (1 Ben). It was on Nov. 8, 1519 that Cortez was received by Montezuma, the emperor of what is now Mexico City (Tenochtitlan). The belief that Cortez was a god, was what eventually brought down the Aztec empire. During the years after the conquest many of the indigenous people were killed in the name of the one god religion of Christianity. In less than 20 years a native Indian peasant had a vision which helped to become the bridge between these two systems of belief. Juan Diego lived in the town of Tepeyac, which also was home to the shrine of the Aztec mother goddess, Teotonantzin. It was in 1531 that he had the vision of what is now known as "Our Lady." Her message was that she was the Mother of the True God and her image was imprinted on his cactus-cloth cloak. After years of persecution and torture the Aztec-Mayan people now had some way to relate to this new religion, and they now had something they could believe in. (Incidentally there has been a recent siting of the "Our Lady of Guadelupe" around the time of the eclipse on April 19, 2004 in the town of Ensendada, Mexico) Each one of us has a set of beliefs that we allow to consciously or unconsciously be the dictate in how we make our life choices. There is an unlimited number of ways that we can make these choices and live out our lives. But we can only be clear when we are following the signs that come from being grounded within our own heart. Those outside forces that are constantly shifting our attentions and our beliefs and will change from one day to the next. When one is in tune with the mind of their heart those changing forces are simply currents to be navigated. Today the Sun and Jupiter are in an aspect that helps us to move forward in whatever plans we have been working on, we'll be fine, as long as we don't bite off more than we can chew.
