by Carol McCloud www.GalacticAlchemy.com Mayan Moon Report: Week of May 3, 2004 Convergence Point To the ancient Maya, Venus was the god of war, her place in the sky as morning star was believed to bring death and destruction. It was a time that Mayan lords used as an opportunity to wage war. Mayan astronomers made very careful records of the planet so that they would know the proper timing of these Venus cycles. The ritual calendar that predated the Tzolkin was based on this knowledge. This year's Venus Passage is not about war. It is about unification. It is about becoming whole and merging the two halves of ourselves and of our world that are not harmonious with one another. There are many aspects to the energies of the goddess and we will become acutely aware of how to integrate the roles we play as male/female and the nature of simply being human. Venus in her evening sky role is the lover and her retrograde cycle represents the journey of the Goddess into the underworld. This Venus passage is an experience that no living person has ever had, it is unquestionably the biggest astrological event of the year. It happens in pairs every 120 years. What we will be learning this year is how to navigate our way through this passage and the eight year journey until it happens again in 2012. This week we are at the threshold of this magnifcent cosmic gateway. In the night sky Venus will become a powerful force as she reaches maximum brightness. This is the last brilliant display before stationing at 27 degrees Gemini on May 17 (10 Ahau). This is a point in the zodiac that is directly across from the core of our galaxy, which the Maya call, Hunab Ku, the one giver of movement and measure. The timing is significant as well since 10 Ahau is the point in the Tzolkin sacred calendar that marks the last day in the seventh and center column. This column is the core of the calendar and this week we will reach the center day within this core. It is a convergence point where all 260 days of the sacred cycle merge into one "dawn" moment. MONDAY MAY 3 9 CIMI (Death/Rebirth) White/North Keywords: death, rebirth, transmutation, skull, bones, spirit. Moon in Scorpio. Today and for the next few days we will find ourselves moving through a deeply powerful transition process. The ninth day is about movement into higher realms. It is the feminine energy of the gestating womb. These days create an opening and potential for evolution and change. The Mayan glyph of Cimi is the sign of death and rebirth. Cimi represents the stage of the calendar which relates to an incubation process. It is the point in the cycle where we are asked to look at things that are no longer needed and to let them go. It is the chrysalis stage, representing a cycle of transmutation. This day brings to us the realization that some core element of our identity is ending and at times this process will be difficult and uncomfortable. These are times when there are few reminders that make us feel safe and secure. Remember, that you made the choice to be here at this time and there is no turning back. Just as the caterpillar enters the chrysalis stage without eyes, or vision to see anything but light and dark, without a body, or one that is slowly dissolving into something else. We could be feeling a deep disconnection from what we have known to be true and there is no real indication that anything will be there to replace it. At this time it is extremely important to remember that without death we cannot have birth. This is a stage where we must surrender, and proceed on the path of faith and initiation. Here we are walking into uncharted territory, soon enough we will find that the current energies are providing a great deal of support to fully let go of whatever is in our way. Die before you die, as the Sufi's say. TUESDAY MAY 4 10 MANIK (Deer/Hand) Black/West Keywords: deer, hand, healing, prophecy, potential, balance, the four directions Lunar Eclipse / Scorpio Moon Lunar Beltane Sabian Symbols: Taurus 15 degrees "Head covered with a rakish silk hat, muffled against the cold, a man braves a storm;" Scorpio 15 degrees "Children playing around five mounds of sand." Jupiter Direct ( Virgo 8 Degrees) Sabian symbol: "A five year old child takes a first dancing lesson." The animal totem for Manik is the deer, representing gentleness and compassion. This symbol also represents the hand that reaches to the heavens and brings the stars down to earth. This symbol of Manik represents our first journey into cosmic consciousness. We are in the tenth day in the cycle, which is a day of manifestation. This day not only brings a powerful eclipse of the moon, it is the day of the Wesak festival, a day that honors the Buddha. It is said that on the days of the Full Moon in the month of Taurus, the Buddha was born, attained enlightenment, and made his final passage from the Earth. This day is a powerful reminder that we are on that same journey. When ancient Avatars passed into this stage of consciousness their legend became the foundation for the great world religions. We are now living in a time when humanity's true powers are surfacing. We are not here to follow the path that came before us, we are here to become it. Remember that we are creators of great proportion and these ancient records of enlightenment and resurrection are merely a metaphor for our present day ascension process. This process is threefold. And Manik asks us to find the sacred balance. Manik is the seventh day sign in our current journey through the core of the calendar. This core is also the seventh column. Seven is the number of the mystic and, in harmonics, is the sign of a powerful urge to evolve and to be immortal. WEDNESDAY MAY 5 11 LAMAT (Rabbit/Star) Yellow/South Keywords: rabbit, multiply, fertility, seed, increase, growth, create, ripen Moon in Scorpio / Sagittarius The animal totem for Lamat is the rabbit. Like the rabbit, this day sign holds the energy of the trickster. Often our deepest truths and realizations come to us in the guise of a fool and we are forever following that white rabbit into wonderland. This day can therefore present itself in many unexpected ways. Rabbit is also a sign of fertility and can be seen as a symbol for the seeding of the universe. Although one symbol for Lamat is Venus, it is more closely associated with the Moon. In Mesoamerica it is a common belief that rather than a man, there is a rabbit in the moon. In one version of the POPOL VUH, the Mayan creation story, the hero twins Hunahpu and Xbalanque became the Sun and the Moon. The Moon as well as the Sun and Venus were once Gods in variations of these mesoamerican creation stories. In these myths, the gods are willing to sacrifice themselves and to be transformed. Lamat can also be seen as another metaphor for a new birth representing the creative force or cosmic explosion that brings new life into form. THURSDAY MAY 6 12 MULUC (Moon/River) Red/East Keywords: river, water, moon, fire, purification, milky way, debt, karma, blood ritual, interdependence. Perigee of Moon (closest approach to Earth) at 4:30 am GMT. Sabian Symbol (5 degrees Sag) "An old owl sits alone on the branch of an old tree." Today we have a powerful Lunar perigee which will intensify the emotional energies of the Moon. Muluc is the glyph that is symbolized by the Moon and water. It also represents the river of souls and the human passage through life. This day sign is highly emotional, intuitive and carries with it ancient karmic memories. It is perhaps the sign that feels most responsible for the purification of the planet. John Lennon, Salvador Dali, who were born on Muluc, represent the dark and light qualities that are the nature of this sign. There are relations of Muluc to the Aztec god of the central fire, Xiuhtecuhtli, and of the cycles of time and life. Muluc is the Ninth glyph in the cycle of twenty. In our current journey through the core of the calendar this 9th day of 12 Muluc represents the birth of a new understanding. Today we will have access to the ancient wisdom locked within our DNA. Remember who you are. The Moon and Muluc will present us with some emotional juice to un-kink all those strands.
FRIDAY MAY 7 13 OC (Wolf/Dog) White/North Keywords: wolf, dog, faithful, loyalty, trust, divine laws, terrestrial laws, companionship. Disseminating Moon (3 degrees Capricorn) Sabian: "A human soul, in its eagerness for new experiences, seeks embodiment." Mars enters Cancer. Today is a powerful marker in our transition process. We are now entering the center of the calendar. With 13 Oc and 1 Chuen we have an opportunity to begin again. Tonight is the crack between worlds and tomorrow brings us to a new dawn. The calendar is like a labyrinth of time where all our prayers are encoded within the days and marked by our journey through it. In today's astrological energies this is a harvest time, but the ending could be bittersweet. We need to be careful of feelings of hope vs hopelessness. There could be a sense that there was more to be done and the results are not quite meeting our expectations. If we have put too much energy into wanting something to occur we limit its potential. Today we are reminded that not all things happen in the blink of an eye. This would be a good day to remind ourselves of how far we have come, and all that has been accomplished. Remember that in the spiritual realms, where healing and manifestation occur, time, as we know it does not exist. The calendar teaches us that our movement through the universe is a sacred journey. When we tune into the flow and organic harmony of this living, expanding organism of time/space we have a natural ability to create magic within each moment. Tonight would be a good time for the magic to begin. Find yourself in a quiet spot. Be in nature. Watch the sunset, the sunrise, the Moon rise and set, tune into the stars as they begin to carpet the sky, feel the living energetic presence of all that has happened before converging with all that will ever be. Know that this point is YOU. SATURDAY MAY 8 1 CHUEN (Monkey) Black/West Keywords: monkey, raccoon, magic, play, interplay, weaving the history of humanity, the energy of time/space, web of life, creator, craftsman. This "Dawn Moment," begins a new 13 day time-pulse. In the sacred Cholqij calendar of the Kiche people of Guatemala, Chuen or Batz, marks the beginning of the 260 day cycle. Chuen is the day sign of the shaman/priest and weaver of time/space. Today something in the fabric of time will feel like it is reweaving itself. Many new threads are making their way into our consciousness. It is time to begin to gather up these strands and learn how to weave our own magic. Chuen is a scribe, an artisan, a creator of new possibilities. The monkey is a lucky sign, it is an old soul in the heart of a child. It is also a trickster. If you are tuned into these energies, you will find yourself moving through the difficulties of life with a divine nonchalance. Problems will arise and yet somehow you'll land on your feet. Chuen is about wearing many hats that become masks and we can often get caught up in the illusion, not knowing which one of these is real. Time to polish those rose colored glasses and be clear of what it is you are looking at. Today some issues may arise that will force us to see things for what they are. Step lightly and try not to become entrapped by the ways in which you are playing with reality (or it will play with you). This is a day where we will want set some intentions and learn to express the pure truth of who we are. Nothing less will do. SUNDAY MAY 9 2 EB (Road) Yellow/East Keywords: spiritual path, destiny, road, human, physical pathways, tooth, guide, higher mind, inspiration, wisdom. Moon in Capricorn / Aquarius Eb is the day sign that speaks of the human journey. It is symbolized by the road. It is about our destiny. Eb relates to the Native American expression that asks us to act "for the benefit of seven generations." It is about service. The aquarian moon will want us to take on this responsibility and be the seeker of all that is idealized about the human race. This day will have us feeling that all is right with the world, but something may not be measuring up. Before we act just yet, we need to take another look around. Be objective and use discernment. On this second day of the pulse we are being asked to consider where we are headed. When we set out in a certain direction there will be many choices along the way. Today is a reminder to have some clarity around what we need and the steps it will take to get there. This is a time in the cycle when we may feel challenged but need to move forward anyway. Get grounded and look ahead to find the clear path. Once we have found ourselves in alignment everything will fall into place. The journey of Eb seems to be a lot about doing, but in reality the road ahead becomes much more profound when we stop doing and start being. The choice here is pretty simple. Although your head seems to be clearly in control, follow your heart. Better yet, make your heart the organ that rules all of your mental, emotional, and physical bodies. Copyright © 2004 by C.
