ARIES (March 21-April 19)
Everyone carries the legacy of the past, and everyone is influenced by it. Our parents' secret stories, the unspoken histories of our families and the genetic memories of our species all linger in our minds and DNA, influencing the decisions we make each day. There is substantial research demonstrating that we even have the capability to access our parents' memories of events that happened long before we born. In the weeks to come, the spotlight of awareness shifts into these secret rooms, where you will find vital information, reserves of energy you didn't know you had and freedom from thoughts you never consciously accepted. To move within this space will take some guts, but if we can say one thing for sure, it's that you now have the courage and see the wisdom in not just facing the past, but in understanding it.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)
We might ask if feelings create thoughts, or if thoughts create feelings. An excellent case has been made that every energetic current in the mind or body is a thought form, and that thought is the primary gateway, in a sense, to programming who we are. Yet you are now at a convergence point where thought and feeling are rapidly aligning. Certain emotional realities, like frustration or fear, will break down into patterns of thought if you analyze them. Certain intuitive thought senses, such as dreams, will present you with dependable emotional data. Yet as the month progresses, the different forms of consciousness will blend imperceptibly into one thing. If you want to make the most of this, check in daily, or several times a day, with the important questions in your life. How do you feel? What do you think? Track both seeming tangents regularly and they will inevitably lead you to one truth.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)
Everyone is a control freak. It's just merely a matter of what we strive to control, that's all. In a manner of speaking, artists are fascists, writers are tyrants, musicians are maestros, chefs are chiefs; and those without a creative purpose, without a constructive, productive but mainly creative intention to their lives are doomed to be petty tyrants, acting out their frustrations on those around them. Now that Saturn has officially commenced its 30-month journey across your birth sign, you get to make some choices. Rightfully, this is a cause and a time for celebrating, but it's a celebration of acknowledgment. You are, unfortunately, likely to feel this as pressure to conform, to live up to something, or to take life "too seriously." However, you have been waiting for such cues for a long time. Not dealing with them has been remarkably frustrating. Have you had enough?

CANCER (June 21-July 22)
What is a "beginning" in a world of cycles and gradual shifts? Usually, what we call a beginning is something we impose artificially on a time (like New Year's), or it's a change we observe from the more accurate perspective of passing time itself. The second kind of beginning clearly includes the more meaningful changes (looking back, how many New Year's resolutions can you say really improved your life?). Yet moments of invisible change happen to us even if we're not aware they are unfolding. How would life be different if we were conscious of what was happening at the time? What if we could just make one or two extra choices to remove obstructions to progress when they were relatively easy and amazingly beneficial to get out of the way? I dare say now is such an opportunity. Certainly you feel something important is at hand, though how important you have no way to know.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)
For someone as well-defined as you are, it is surely easy to lose yourself in what other people think, or what group-dynamics demand. This does not serve you so well because most of the world is strutting around boldly in a state approaching panic, making up for it by forming little clubs where they feel safe. You, on the other hand, are more inclined to move cautiously amongst people while operating from a state of inner alignment, independence and self-awareness (if this ain't true, you might want to see how good you are at it). You don't need other people projecting their own sense of incompetence or insignificance on you. Yet you are at a moment in your life where it would be very good to think beyond the self-definitions you have carried -- even if they served you well. You now get to release some elements of who and what you presumed you were, emptying out in preparation for a moment of embracing one or two truly original new personal attributes. Just take it slow.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sep. 22)
Have you ever considered the concept of "healing"? I would imagine that as a reader of this column (not to mention a Virgo) you probably have, but who knows. Healing is the idea that we can get beyond our pain. It is the idea that we can resolve that which is left over from the past and holding us back today, in this way liberating us to move forward in freedom. Perhaps most important, healing is the result of allowing the mind and body to exist in their natural state, which gives us access to a creative intelligence resident within us. We can remember the existence of this intelligence; then it tells us what we need to know in any given moment. There are powerful signs of healing processes at work in your chart and in your life right now. They may call you to make certain changes, adapt to your environment, change your environment, or adjust certain living situations. This is real information which will teach you to help yourself, and help others in the process.

LIBRA (Sep. 23-Oct. 22)
Venus, the planetary goddess of Libra, has spent several months in your opposite sign Aries. My sense is that this has enhanced your experience of dualism, that is, the idea that life and relationships are made of opposites. Yet these opposites contain one another, and you can, if you look, see a bit of yourself in everyone you meet, and in all situations in which you are called upon to act. In these days people will, as well, see you from more of your own viewpoint, and perhaps more like the person you know yourself to be on the inside. This is a greater blessing than you might have imagined, because you get the chance to resolve some of your doubts about who that person is. For a little while longer, I would say it's really safe to trust the reasonable things that people say about you, whether these are compliments or criticisms. At least you can consider everything you hear, and make decisions on your own about what makes sense, which is a good start.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
There are a lot of perspectives on creativity; some feel that it's this torrent that hits you like a tidal wave. Others feel it's an energy you need to get rolling inside of you, which slowly builds momentum. Yes, the wave hits-and it's inspiring or terrifying when it does, but it's not especially practical. So if you're seeking to make some progress in the creative aspects of your life, whether that means creating money, art or love, I suggest you experiment with little riffs and rhythms and see if you can pick up on the melody or the beat. Anger is your friend in this experiment, as long as you're not afraid of it. What may sound or feel like scary anger for the first few moments of a creative process can rapidly transform into something else. Anger is energy; it is passion. What we do with anger determines whether it's a creative or destructive force: but anger itself is innocent.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23-Dec. 21)
How far can you go setting people in your life free? Can you say the words, "I set you free"? Can you make decisions within the context of your own reality that will work to set a person free? Can you shift the energy in your heart to allow them a space of freedom? Or can you actually take the most bold step of all, and be your own person in every sense of the word? This is really the only way to allow others freedom, because in a world where we are all seemingly prisoners of something or someone, it's the closest thing to freedom that there is. And all freedom is freedom from the past. You are in an extraordinary position to gain an understanding of your past, and to see the ways in which you became a prisoner of your own desire, and in many respects, of your own ideas. This no longer needs to be so.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
I suggest that you try to feel okay being strong and weak at the same time. It is not a contradiction. You can ponder metaphors like passionate timidity, aggressive kindness and raging mildness; they convey the basic idea. But what would these paradoxes feel like to negotiate through on the inside, in your heart-center? How about using "the power of surrender" as a working concept? Surrender is indeed powerful; it may be the most powerful choice we have. When we submit (as opposed to surrender) to another person or to a force larger than ourselves, there is an inherent act of weakness because there is lacking an element of choice. Yet when we surrender, we are making a choice, and choice emerges from the power of decision. So much of the ruse that went into convincing us, as children, that we were weak involved blinding us to our own ability to choose. But you are not blind. And you are not a child.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 19-Feb. 18)
The first obstacle to peace, says A Course in Miracles, is the desire to get rid of it. In our relationships, this often shows up as a war between the sexes, a game of harsh denials, or withdrawing from love in the moment love is born, or meeting the prospect of freedom with fear. You no longer need these exercises in futility. The desire to get rid of peace, the Course proposes, is like a little feather before the great wings of truth. "Can it oppose an eagle's flight, or hinder the advance of summer?" Well, it seems to: for example, the seeming power that guilt holds over love, or that shame holds over pleasure. Yet though we may experience these things as inevitabilities, they are really more like conditioned responses that we can learn to release. We learn to release them because we want to. We learn to live in a state of peace because that is the obvious need we have. Any cost this may seem to have to others is an illusion.

PISCES (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)
You are safe. Change now comes not as something imposed, but rather as opportunity to expand your world. I speak less of externals: of career changes or new people -- but rather of some inner doors and senses opening. Your recent bold and successful efforts in the outer world need a rest, time to settle, and time to grow on their own; you, in particular, need a rest, and you will benefit from it in ways you don't yet know. Just open a little space, and breathe into it. A deep memory will guide you -- a childhood feeling of some kind -- if only you can remember how poignant and colorful and strange the world is to a child. Remember. Remember...
